Disgraceful shill bidding

What do you make of this folks?
I put a max bid of 60 euros for this mimp when current bid was 20.
Three different bidders, all who have made 20+ retracted bids in last 6 months put in a series of bids in a 10 min timescale. The higher bidder then retracted leaving me at my max.
Not very subtle huh!?
I reported the listing to eBay, told the seller I was unhappy.
One of the three mystery multi-retraction bidders then outbid me. Presumably the seller trying to cover himself.
I wouldn't recommend dealing with this guy ever!!

Could be another collector being a shithole and making bids just so another collector doesn't get it cheap.
But, it is fishy when seller contacts two minutes after....don't think we will ever know the truth. Sucks man....could very well be just other bids rather than shills...
Those private listings always make me suspicious anyway.

Each had about 3 in last week, 20ish in last month.
It's too much coincidence to be genuine bidders. Also those three were private, no others were.
Then nothing for ages and then suddenly message from seller 5 mins after a higher bid.
Come on...
I've seen enough auctions to spot something that obvious!

The final clincher...
Seller ended item early claiming it has been sold...
Expect to see this listed again sometime! Who knows what id though!
Avoid, avoid, avoid.

There's only a single bid retraction on that listing.
However, you are correct that shilling is occurring. If you click on the retracted bidder's 30-Day Bid History, he has bid on 31 items, all with this seller.

You only need one bid to be retracted, you don't need to retract the lower bids.
I was referring to the bid history!
Glad you agree though!
It's shockingly blatant.

I hope eBay take action but guess there's not much they can do.
What an a**ehole though...

I'll never understand sellers that do that. Start your price at the lowest you're willing to part with the item at. If it goes up super high, awesome. If it doesn't, you as a seller don't feel cheated or like you just screwed yourself out of something you would have rather kept for $1.... but cheating buyers is just downright shameful. Sellers like that should have their accounts removed.

Nice work, SD.
Jackowock:
Not only do the 2 private bidders have 100% bid history on that seller, they each have 29 and 24 bid retractions. This douche is probably using multiple accounts to boost his prices and then retracting when he "accidentally" wins his own auctions. I am shocked that he is so obvious about it. Let's just hope Ebay actually does something.

Did he really think I wouldn't notice something like that??
If anyone else is able to report this listing to eBay too, I'd appreciate it.
They might take it more seriously with multiple reports.

I avoid this kind of BS by sniping. When you place a bid anytime before the last second you set a precedent for someone else to bid you up or outbid you. Bidding wars and shill bidding is something I learned long ago not to deal with.

I only bid like this when I'm not free to snipe at the requisite time!
Thanks for the support team!
