Recovered from the Lost Temple of El Magnifico Sniper Con Cajones Grande!

I put it on my watch list, then I check on it in the last 2 minutes. I enter in my high bid and click the button. It asks me to confrm and I wait. And I view the bid history, which I refresh until it is down to 10-20 seconds left. I do this for 2 reasons. 1. The bid history is all text, and therefore loads much quicker. 2. Refreshing the main page, if it has a counter, will let the bidder know that there is a sniper lurking, but refreshing the bid history page doesn't affect the counter. Then at 10 seconds remaining, I confirm my bid. Wham, he's caught totally unaware! Most people don't bid what they are willing to pay early on. Doing this allows it to be bid up towards the middle of the auction, thereby eliminating the chance of a good deal. The downside is that you will be sniped. BUT, if you do put your max bid in, chances are you won't lose the auction, but it will get jacked to the limit in the remaining minute. GOD I love DSL!

Hey Johnny:

That was amazingly helpful! Sadly I'm on dial-up and don't think that it will work with the same level of efficiency ^_^ but hey I'll manage, now where's my spotter? :o

It works on dial up too. But you don't get the second chance at the end, and you have to confirm your bid at 12-15 seconds.

That is some good stuff, ill bet not many people ever thought about that counter thing, i never had a clue. Yahoo sends me their magazine about the internet and they had a whole article about sniping on ebay and other stuff about ebay like how to sell and search and stuff.

Hey jkaris,

Oddly enough, I do pretty much the same thing. Your idea about the bid counter is something I didn't think about though. I usually know that I can win if I am dealing with a new ebayer. They will always bid and bid and bid. Leaves them totally in the open for what to expect.

Thanks for the info!
