If I have some extra time at work today, I might try to throw together something in photoshop.

I mean, I'm no Van Gogh, but I can probably throw together a Picasso at the very least! haha

I was going to do another one, but vote-splitting concerns me.

But if after the contest jkaris is still finding himself in need of some Buffaloman art, i've always got more on deck. Will work for toys.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

One more entry for me. Buffaloman wants YOU!

EDIT: I thought his chest area needed more work, and I added a few more finishing touches. I think it's finished now.

Attached File  buffaloman.jpg   109.47K   26 downloads

EDIT 2: And for grins, I thought I'd try this out in the classic Terri-bull color scheme from MUSCLE packaging.

Attached File  terribull.jpg   124.58K   21 downloads

And to be clear, I only want the Buffaloman image entered in the contest. The Terr-Bull color scheme is a bit much.

I agree. Your entry is butt-awesome, Kevin. I actually like them all, and it will be very difficult for me to choose a favorite.

Sensing a disturbance in the force, I am.

Okay, treading very, very, very lightly here because you're obviously a talented, accomplished, and published artist, and I have zero to negative zero artistic talent myself, I have to say that I personally find a lot of your work -- as shown here in digital form on the forum -- to be overly dark. (Physically dark, not "dark" as in macabre content.)

I think your illustrations are amazing. It's the overly dark coloring and line thickness that personally turns me off. For example, the below image to me seems to focus on the blackness, with the red character kinda being an "afterthought."

Posted Image

Similar thing with this picture! I think it's amazing, but the darks just overpower and crowd out everything else...

Posted Image

The similar theme is happening in this pic! As I recall there was an even darker version. It's so dark it difficult to tell what is what... :(

Posted Image

Like Jkaris said awhile back, the dark overtones definitely go with the fantasy genre that you are masterful at... but for me, that darkness doesn't always carry over well into other subject matter. But really, this is all just my measly old opinion. I tend to like light, minimalistic art, so I have a bias, and... my high school art teacher was always telling me to go heavier on the darks. :p

In any case, we'd ALL be sorely disappointed if we didn't see any more entries from you. :D

I agree with you on some of the other entries, Soups, but I think the "official" Buffaloman entry isn't all that dark. Maybe it could be lightened a bit, but then again, that might change the feel of the character.

The Buffaloman with the black background is actually kind of cool. Although it doesn't show off the Buffaloman art very well, I like the effect of Buffaloman emerging from the darkness. :D

I agree with everyone in that it would suck nuts if you didn't enter these contests anymore Kevin. I understand that you might need a break from it, though. Coming up with a new piece every month is a bit demanding, especially if it takes 4-8 hours for each entry (as it does with my stuff). So, taking a break is good, but don't say this is goodbye! :D

Wow! Thanks for all the kind words and interest in my work everyone. I was feeling so unloved until now. I was just being overly sensitive. I'll definately keep entering now. It's always so much fun for me to participate in these and see everyone elses work. There is so much talent on display every month. As for the darkness of my art, everyone tells me that. Everyone. I can't see it, but everyone else does, so I really have to try and improve on that. I think FAC7 will be a perfect opportunity to do just that.
Thanks again guys!
I really appreciate it!

I've had a real busy 2 months, and been so busy working and such that I have no finished entries for this contest. I have had a few productive lunch breaks tho, and here are 3 non-entries to fuel the fires of buffalomania (new word! joy!)

Hellboy as Buffaloman:

Have we even started talking about FAC 7? Who's going to be running it and what will the subject be?

We've gotten an amazing turnout this time: 8 participants with 10 entries, which is even more than the first FAC!

Cool work, Reccoom! You should definitely try to finish one for the contest!

Whoever hosts it should think of a Battle Beast theme because this month's was a MUSCLE theme.
