Yep, new species of dino discovered - although this new critter has been dubbed 'The Destroyer of Shins' I'm sure it would live up to such a title.

"Dinosaurs of this kind were 'grotesque,' Dodson says, and Zuul is 'no exception. … Only a mother could love an ankylosaur.'"
Screw you Dodson! I have plenty of room in my heart for an ankylosaur.

As much as I liked it, that first article undersold how amazing this find really is. LOOK AT IT.
Actually, I think that link is a separate fossil discovery from the new species. The new 'Zuul' has a partial club tail and the head, that other find is almost a god particle discover of dinosaur fossils. Think they found preserved brain tissue with it too!

Yeah, it seems my skimming caused me to overlook that Zuul is an ankylosaur, from 75 million years ago - those are the ones with the tail clubs - while this is a nodosaur from effing 110 million years ago, predecessors to the ankylosaurs that were decked out in spiky body armor but hadn't developed any clubs. Totally different finds, though Zuul does remain impressive.
THAT IS A DINOSAUR FROM 110 MILLION YEARS AGO.
What a world we live in, people.

And to think it was found in a mine by stopping a powered shovel! had it not been that tough, It would have been lost!

This is pretty much how fossils are discovered to begin with. It isn't until after really cool finds that people stop digging like crazy and start digging more carefully.
Crazy to think of how much we have potentially lost, but don't know about!
