Some auctions have appeared on eBay France for "prototype" MIMP, ahead of an alleged 2016 release.

Legit or not? Either way they seem fairly well produced.

Interesting! I bet they're legit. I"m not sure where else they would have come from. The figures don't look bad, but they definitely have that cartoonish style I'm not a big fan of.

I was thinking the same thing. Reminds me of the later Gormiti stuff.

The Cyclops has his skull necklace from the original line.

The redcap looks really awesome.

Is that the Beast or Nemean Lion?

Okay, Medusa is awesome.

I was looking at these too. Reminds me of Skylanders. I'd be cool with the new MIMP looking like these guys. They need to make another Behemoth this time...

At this early stage I'm not sure what I think, but what I do know is that I don't like the painted ones - monochromatic all the way! Maybe a little too cartoonish for my liking also, like Frank said. I'll keep an open mind until the realise though.

i've contacted the seller, i'll try to traduce his response in english :

"i'm lucky enough to know the project-director that offered me those 6 prototypes.

I've followed the post-production of this project with high attention. that's why i've got some drawings i'm allowed to use. But be carreful thoses photos are protected by an international copyright so thank you to respect that.

And what i can say you, that it's impressive to see each step from the first drawing to the prototype.

This collection will be available first in a big video game distributor in France.

There will be more than 30 figures for this 1st serie.

This is not a cartoon project, not that far i guess, it's a copyright and a game board that will be also available and card to collect too."

Thanks to him for his response !

That would be awesome to get a new series! I wish they would be monochrome and it makes me wonder what type of plastic these will be.

Thanks for digging for more info from the seller, trumanshower.

I'm glad at least that there's a Medusa/Gorgon, as I really missed her in the 2006 line (thought it was odd they didn't include her, since she had been repeatedly used as one of the main MIMP characters in the '90s stuff). The way they did her snakes/hair for this new one is kinda funky, though.

Now I wonder what the other monsters are in the 30 that he mentioned. If these are any indication, they're sticking to ones from Series 1 of the original series.

I also contacted the seller and have placed a bid on the Cyclops because I want him in the worst way.

Here was his response.

Yes they are official because it is a friend who is in charge of this project! These figures will be released in France in 2016 in the shops " Zappos " ( gamestop France ) . I have sketches , photos prototyping ! But beware, these figurines are protected by international copyright law ! I 'm selling only these figures but there are 30 in all! For the record , these figurines are designed by an American , who work in the company Marvel ! Best Regards,

Well, there's a fifth auction for a centaur.

Since these seems to be in a legal grey area, I saved the images for posterity, just in case.

Stylistically, they remind me of the Ubisoft Clash of Heroes figures (also French). I wonder if there's any connection there.

Very cool! I probably like that one the least out of the Five; but I am still super excited at the chance of getting one of these guys. The prospect of a new line coming out is very exciting too. Here's to hoping we get mono colors. But but looks unlikely except for may some metallic SEs.

Ah, thanks for that SD. That Centaur is the most overly stylized one so far and doesn't look nearly monstrous enough to me to be a MIMP, but now we know it's not only Series 1 monsters included in this new set.

Those do look a lot like the Clash of Heroes -- Might and Magic styled figures.

Is there any info on packaging type and//or where these will be released?

If no info is out, what are your best guesses?  Blind-bags?

I will take anything ANYTHING that is officially MIMP at this stage.  I started with the Series 1 in the early 90's and then I got three of the four Spaghetti-O's sets and then the Super Scary sets.  And then nothing.  Everything else MIMP I had to get from Ebay or from LRG.  I don't care how stylized these may be.  Too many great series die before their time.  Xevoz was one of my all-time favorite toylines ever.  MIMP 2006(?) I was only ever to get from Sherrie and that was only a total of 12 figurines.  Slug Zombies is another line that should have gone on but sadly, didn't.

As for the photos above, my favorite is the Cyclops.  He looks very God Of War.  If I could get only one, it'd be him.
