Hey guys,

I have a question about drawing and illustration programs on the ipad.  Got any recs?  I don't need anything too fancy - but honestly what I am having trouble with is simple features (or at least what I consider simple features) like being able to cut, copy and paste in the program.

There is one that I tried out called Procreate and it was a little too much.  And then on top, it didnt have the cut and paste features I wanted (or at least I couldn't figure it out).

I've also done PicsArt - which my friend SWEARS to me can do what I want it to do... but I don't think she fully understands what I'm attempting.

My favorite interface is a really simple program called Sketch Club that I just happen to pick up on a Starbucks "free app" card.  It's GREAT!  But - alas it doesnt cut and paste etc...

Any help you guys can give or if you could point me in the right direction - that would be AWESOME!

Thanks,

PF

If you are trying to do actual art, my best advice would be to bite the bullet and get photoshop or corell painter. At least you aren't taking a riask on those. I would also use a wicom tablet instead of the touch screen. Hate touch screens lol give me my wicom pen and I will do anything! lol

I have actually kinda gotten used to the touch screen... At least when I use a certain stylus.

I'm just doing simple line illustrations, working on some balloon designs... But I do need those features.

16x9 Wacom + Adobe Illustrator = designer bliss :)

honestly I wasn't aware that they'd made a version of Photoshop for tablet. though I'm kind of annoyed it isn't included in my CC membership  <_<

I don't own a tablet so I can't be an expert but even if they didn't a usb disc drive and a copy of it will serve just as well so long as its for the right software :p

a little unsure of what you mean, but if you're talking about bootlegging a copy of it, I'm assuming (like most Adobe software) that there's authentication built into it. Plus it's only $10, I just don't see why that wouldn't be included with a Cloud membership.

also tablet's don't typically have USB input ports (though I've seen adapters).

Oh, so you're talking about copying a legit installer for PC/Mac onto a tablet and installing it? Cause that really would not work ;)

You guys are funny!

At least on the App Store... I think there is like a photoshop lite - it's not the full program.

I'm working on something for a specific project that honestly I'm probably not going to make more than $75 on. I'm not really looking to invest much into it, because then I will be in the red. And besides, I'm just working with simple black and white line drawing. So a lot of these really robust programs are overkill.

I just want to be able to copy and paste... Possibly invert. Something equivilant to the lasso tool in PS would be ideal.

Sigh.

yeah the one you're talking about is called 'Photoshop Touch'; I was just mentioning that as I have an Adobe Creative Cloud suite membership through work, (costs roughly $50/month) it seems silly to me that they wouldn't include this mobile version with that membership. Also, after reading reviews about it, seems that you can work with layers and such, but it won't allow you to save out .psd files. That's a pretty big failure right there.

I don't have an iPad though but I'll let you know if I come across a decent app for Android. I've been looking for one myself for a while
