So, read the article.

I've been a wrestling fan for 30 years, and I think I am done with the WWE.

Whatever the circumstances regarding his release, good riddance. His character was stale. His moveset was stale, and frankly I just didn't lookm forward to seeing him wrestle week-to-week. Every match of his just felt like deja vu (the same can be said for a number of other performers.)

There are a litany of reasons to give up watching WWE: the terrible storytelling, the giggling idiots on commentary spending more time shilling the network than calling the action, the lack of emphasis on the secondary belts, the poorly booked tag division, the fact that every mid-carder feels like a perennial loser, the start-and-stop pushes, etc. If none of those things got you to stop watching, how can Del Rio of all things be the straw that broke the camel's back?

Eh, I actually really enjoyed ADR's matches. I feel like they really dropped the ball on not acknowledging his MMA background.

And, there isn't anything on the programming right now, worse than what people applauded during the Attitude Era, so I don't buy that argument. The announce team has sucked since 2007, so there is that, too.

The fact that they basically let ADR go, while not shit-canning the guy who was ostensibly creating a hostile work environment, says a lot about the culture of the company, and I can't back that.

Oh, don't get me wrong. If the rumors are true that the social media worker made a racially insensitive comment, then yeah, he should be fired as well.

I mean, that's it. If they fired both parties, all's fair, I guess.

I hope ADR winds up in Japan. They'll know how to utilize him.

Imagine if the WWE tried to book Shamrock with the aristocrat gimmick, and you kind of see where I scratch my head on the whole ADR character.

Word on the internets is that Del Rio has already worked out a deal to do some matches in Mexico for AAA. Also supposedly TNA is interested (of course, depending on if they can get a new TV deal).

I don't really understand how making an off-hand comment like who should clean the plates relates back to being racist. A bit rude or a dick joke, sure, but I fail to see the racism.

It also appears that regardless of that the network is going to punish him, as it states in the article. It just has to go through a legal team because of what went down.

It's a reference to all the Mexicans who work in catering, isn't it? Del Rio is hispanic and obviously took exception to the suggestion that he's only good for cleaning plates.

Typical WWE.  They knew his contract was up in a couple months and found a way to make him bow out earlier.

Here is a great article that writes in great detail(it's pretty long) about how they exploit their wrestlers and leave them literally for dead without having to deal with any consequences.

Did the guy say it because Del Rio was "Mexican" or because Del Rio was the "hired help". Dunno. Either way, he got britch slapped for his trouble.

Considering that the WWE is constantly using exaggerated stereotypes about everything (not just race) this really doesn't surprise me.
I also wasn't sure that Del Rio was actually Mexican (or even hispanic), since a lot of times they have their actors playing different roles. He certainly doesn't look Mexican (he looks like he could be part of Jersey Shore). But then I went to Wikipedia and it turns out he is.

In the end, the WWE has become a farce the last decade+ I stopped watching a long, long time ago.

The WWE as a whole is down.  This doesn't help any either.  I think the DaHumorist's comment above spells out what's wrong and what's in need of being fixed.  I thought ADR was a good worker, and thought of late (before he was canned) that they were wasting him on job matches.  Like they're doing with Cesaro right now.  I also think that the WWE is missing out on a great opprotunity to highlight the Divas in WRESTLING action on a weekly basis.  They have a pretty big roster and could bring in others to fill it out.  I'd like to see it or have someone else do it.  Like TNA but since they're in trouble of they're own right now I don't see that happening.

I don't know, TNA is actually doing a few things RIGHT, for a change. I think that a permanent move to the New England area would benefit their product.

And yeah, Jon, Del Rio was known as Dos Caras jr, and is a nephew to Mil Mascaras. He comes from a prominent wrestling family, and has backgrounds in both legit amateur wrestling and MMA. He's actaully a legit badass.

WWE has for the most part been a joke for its entire existence. The attitude years were the only real good ones and that's because they had serious competition from wcw . Never really cared for the organization. But always interesting to see why guys cagey canned.

I always wonder what TNA could do if they actually had someone with a decent long term plan. Sometimes they are really good and other times so horrible that I would rather watch turtles boning.
