Aikola I am happy to aid your website if you wish to develop it further.
There are already websites out there for Monster in my Pocket and each
serves a useful purpose. I don't see why this case cannot be the same.
For example if people want to see all the Space Alien figures they will
be advised not to go to my website! I think at this stage the websites
could have different intentions...

www.monstercollecting.com is live but at the moment I have just put
up some high res images of my behemoths. I have bought the rights to
the domain and have a hosting package so limits on space won't be
so much of an issue.

I certainly have the time and passion to donate to this project . As for the
competition I don't see why contributions cannot be shared amongst us
but that is up to those you wish to donate photographs to decide. I do
understand the concerns but personally will not be deterred if people
choose Aikola's website as a main source. No mud required B)

Silly question, but weren't a lot of those photos in that one sticky thread posted as free-use for such websites? Why not make use of them?

The thread marked 'info for the MIMP guide'?
http://www.littlerub...l=monster guide

I am aware of these photographs and would certainly benefit from any I haven't been able
to take myself. Perhaps 'asator' and 'trumanshower' are happy to aid these projects?
I have sent a personal message to them both.

At the moment I have written the HTML for my Matchbox and Italy page and plan to upload
soon. The Homepage I plan to have a welcome note and each Series will have it's own
Homepage detailing a bit more about the releases (any help here would be much appreciated).

A challenge at the moment is to work out a colour criteria for the Peru figures.

Website coming very soon.

Darryl, it looks sharp and simple. But whenever I attempt to load and view your two finished/sample pages, what I assume should be a tiled grid just turns into a stacked vertical list. No grid at all.

Looks neat, but you will probably need some <tr>, <td>, and <th> elements in your tables for the grid to work correctly. You could also probably do each grid with a single table.

Do the elements not align correctly on your screen?

I use Firefox on a iMac and they align perfectly for me...
Saying that I just look an old version of Internet Exployer on my
housemates computer and I see problems.

I will play around with the HTML, thanks for suggestions.

I think where MIMP descriptions are concerned, brevity ought to be the order of the day. Nobody wants to wade through a ton of text. It's just a piece of effing plastic, you can't really wax lyrical about that, can you? (Actually don't answer that :unknw:)

Dude, it's only a figure guide. Nobody's there for the text, whether newbie or experienced collector. This is what we're talking about right here:

http://www.nathansmu...spx?menu=muscle
http://home.comcast....dEggzBunch.html
http://www.geepeekay..._ctarchive.html

Those are some awesome figure archives. They're also notable for their almost complete lack of text.

www.monstercollecting.com
I have made some alterations to the HTML and added other sections:
Premium and Mexico

Hopefully this will be more successful for those viewing with Internet Explorer.
Thanks for the offer of help, if I require more bug ironing this would be useful.
I view at quite a large resolution so if those with lower resolutions could also
give feedback I would appreciate that.

Mexico section and the later Peru section are problematic because of the
amount of colours. I wanted to retain continuity with the grid and didn't want
to compromise size of thumbs.

Brojo regarding text for the website I would appreciate your help. I take note
of Strontium Dog's concern and partially agree, this doesn't have to be a bible.
I think the Homepage should have a brief outline of the toyline with perhaps a
nice visual.

The Series 1 page (before you click on other links) can have a more detailed
breakdown of each of the categories: Matchbox, Premium, Italy, Mexico,
Argentina etc. This I think will be relevant to experienced collectors, newbies
or just passers by. It provides a context for those that require it. If not it will
be easy to bypass and continue to click one of the categories.

Further still the Series 2 and Series 3 page can have an outline page before
you click on the categories. Particular things could be highlighted like the
controversy surrounding the Ganesha figure on release.

As with the design, my aim is 'clean', 'concise' communication.

Hm, one thing I'm noticing here is it'd be really helpful to have comparison photos between the mimp colors from other regions (i.e. how to tell the Sonrics green Skeleton from it's Italian counterpart, etc).

Looks good, much improved structure there. However you probably want to get rid of that "width:1920px" in the stylesheet, it looks odd at other resolutions.

KungFuMan this is a consideration... unfortunately the grid would have to be huge and would
require items to be shifted around to get complete comparison. I think with the development
of high definition pop up images perhaps in new windows could be position them side by side
for comparison?

Thanks for taking the images... I will take a photograph of my setup so people can try and
match it. I don't mean to be critical but the paper behind your figures appears to be crumpled
and there is not a light source? Can you also take closer to the figure. I have attached a
photograph of my larger file. My camera is quite old (4.0 mega pixel) so even my macro shots
are lower in detail than what others can achieve.

You remind me I own that Dark Purple Ghoul but have been wondering where to place it.
He is a different shade to the other Mexican Dark Purple. If any can help here?

Nyarlathotep, thanks again for scouring my code. I have made some alterations, hopefully that
will fix the issue.

"Someday I still hope to create a website about EVERY m.i.m.p. item,
and containing ALL known information about them."

I have some difficult understanding this vision of yours...
Would it be an extension of page like this?
http://www.raumhafen...mimp/index.html

The initially framework of my website lends itself for expansion.
Do you think your website would be purposely designed or would
it evolve over time? Tailoring a website to do everything can be
a particular challenge for it not to become a complete mash
of ideas.

Here is a comparison of the Purple Ghoul and Dark Purple Triton.
Thanks

I've seen that to an extent with some of the series 1 purple figures with different letters on their feet. It oddly shows up really well between the "a" and "b" skeletons, where one is significantly lighter in shade than the other.

I've still got to get the photos done, my fiancee has the rest of my collection to boot in all this. Some good news is thatt I've got an orange Ganesha and Herne coming my way, so if I can get a good shot that should help both of your guys' galleries (the guy that mucked me over on Blemmyea relisted his stuff as separate auctions, so I snagged them while I had the chance :X).

Please see attached photograph of how I achieve my images for website.
Light source is above so the shadow is aimed more around the feet of the figure.
I close the blinds and set the camera to 'tungsten light'. Then position the camera
on the flat surface (my record player in photograph) right next to the stage and
the figure.

I was tempted to put the Ghoul into the Unknown section but will place
him amongst the Dark Purple at the moment. Hopefully LaRata will be
able to shed more light on it.

Sorry I thought my bid for contributions in this thread and the one in 'Members Links'
was not excluding anyone! Do you want me to ask you 'personally' to contribute oh
wise master?

I guess if you are really interested in making contributions you will... no grovelling
from me :D I won't be scouring others picture libraries to find the ones I need. I was
hoping people would be enthused to do so at their leisure. I thought for a second the
addition of a 'setup' photograph was your attempt to generate some new photographs
for a soul purpose, my mistake.

Well I can name Federico as one person that has done this and I thank Kungfuman
for his efforts.

I have used pictures taken by the following people:
Brojo
Asator
Trumanshower
These people have posted pictures up to be used on a website documenting MIMP but if they do not want them to be used again please say so.
I will eventually ask for certain figures to be photographed and hopefully people would like to help with this website.
All photos will be credited to the person who took them.

Please, please, please Brojo take the time and effort to document and show off,
I mean 'show case' parts of your collection on my website. Of course you will be
credited. I will make sure the whole world knows how great you are!

List of specific photographs required:

Italy
Any gaps in the website that need filling. Pretty sure you have some Gold
figures I don't plus other colours.

Mexico
Whichever ones you own that are not already documented. You have implied
you have gathered a lot more through trading. Any gaps you can fill would be
much appreciated.

Peru
All of your sculpts would be great to see. I don't think I own any of your colour/
sculpt combination's so there should be no clahes.

Argentina
Any opaque and translucent figures would also make a great addition.

Same rules apply I am afraid, no special treatment. Please try to fit the style of
existing photographs and make sure they can be scaled to the ratio: 107px x 80px.
Maximum size no larger than this:
http://www.monsterco...oto-example.jpg

I will rename and scale all files accordingly. If you send them via email I will do
my best to update asap. Note majority of contributions have been added as soon
as received.

I can credit you in these ways:
1. On the Homepage, once that gets up and running
2. In the footer of the relevant page (deciding between 1 and 2 atm)
3. At the bottom right of each thumbnail (see rb for rarebob in the series 3 section).

My email address for contributions is: pure_daz@hotmail.com
Please mark subject 'monster collecting' and give a brief description of the attached
photographs. Example: mexican blue zombie, etc. IF you have not named your
files accordingly.

This message also applies to everyone. I would be extremely grateful to anyone that
can contribute to the website. Thank you

PS - If you do not wish to be credited on the website and wish to remain anonymous
this is also an option.
