If you buy with a credit card rather than paypal, is the seller losing money to a credit surcharge?

No.  They are paying both a Ebay fee AND a paypal fee either way.

Yeah the seller is going to pay the same either way. Only difference is sometimes the bank account payments take time to clear (but sometimes they don't). Not really sure when or why that happens...

Ah OK, thanks.  Now I don't feel like a jerk making something like a little $10 payment waiting for money to get into my paypal other than credit card banks collecting some fee somewhere.  But what does PF stand for?   So it seems credit and paypal balance are instant, but for paypal e-check they have to wait for it to clear.

Yes,  e-check seems to take longer!  You are correct!

PF stands for plasticfiend.  Kinda my signature when I post on LRG.  It's also the sound I make when I read something really stupid that someone else has posted... but that doesn't happen very often.  At least not on LRG.  Folks here are top notch!

Have to admit I know nothing about using credit cards on eBay. When I first noticed the option about 2yrs ago I asked about (in fairness that was before I joined LRG) and was warned against using it as it was a commen way to suffer credit card fraud. Because so many people warned me against it I have never used it, although I've never met anyone with an actual fraud experience from using there credit card on eBay
