What I was wondering is if this game was any good. The commercial made it seem like it was pretty good. Everything that was shown looked liked it was CG, and not actual game play.

From what I saw on G4 tv, I forget what show, it looked cool. It is pretty much hack and slash action, and you could use "THE FORCE" as well. I am not normally a Star Wars fan, but I bought it and I am going to give it a shot tonight or tomorrow night. It includes a two play co operative mode and goes over the first 3 episodes. You can also unlock playable characters like Darth Maul, Mace Windu, Yoda, and... DARTH VADER!!I just saw a commercial for some LEGO Star Wars game. It looks like it goes through the first 3 movies (Episode I, II, III). Also saw the PC version of it at Mejiers last night.

You have a small party of characters for each level. You start with Obi Wan and Qui Gon Jin, then later Jar Jar and Amidala and Captain Typho, then all four of them, with help from various droids along the way. It basically sticks to whoever was involved in that scene of the movie. You can control anyone in your party at any time, and you will need to in order to get through certain places, according to whatever power you need. Fortunately you are only responsible for the character you are controlling, so you don't need to worry about anybody being blown up while you're working on something else. Also, lives are unlimited, but you lose "studs" every time you die, and you need studs to unlock various extras in the game.
There's enough going on in side tasks and game extras to keep this game fresh for a while, which is good as the action of the main game is fairly easy (I've only beaten episode 1 so far, but the other two prequel films are represented, and there's another door which may lead to the original films perhaps. It's locked in my game now, but we shall see.
You can also unlock any character you play as or fight against in the main game, and can do "free mode" in any level you've beaten. This way you can go back and use other character powers to get secret things you couldn't initially. Also it's fun to watch strange character combinations fight with eachother: Darth Maul and a Gonk droid for instance. 2 player is good fun and works well as long as you two can amicably decide which direction to walk in. Also, when you get to the Pd Race level, do it one player, as 2 player is significantly more dificult.
There's also a great sense of humor in the game, and a wonderful sense of freedom which really makes it a joy to play.
This is definately one of Playstation's better new games, and has almost made me forget how boring the new Musashi game is.

I just played Episode 1 and played alittle of episode 2, and I could have not said it any better than what Teacher of Madness had said. It is a really fun game and I thought it was funny that once I unlocked Darth Maul and Padme, they had a fight outside the diner, lol. Pade me was firing her blaster while, maul was deflecting the shots. The characters you unlock walk around inside the diner and outside, waiting for you to take control of them and play as them. The little renactments of the movie with legos is hilarious, especially Qui Con getting stabbed by Maul and Maul getting sliced in two by Obi.I don't mean to steal anyone's thunder, but I bought Star Wars Lego a few days ago, and I love it. The gameplay is easy to learn, the graphics and character are very bright and look wonderful. There are different types of characters each with their own special abilities (jedi can use force powers and light sabres, gun characters can shoot and use grappling hooks, young anakin can climb through vents, jar jar can jump high, etc.)

The cool part of the game is that it goes through the important events that happened in the movie, and once your halfway through episode one, Episode 2 and 3 are unlocked. You can skip 2 and go straight to 3. I was tempted, but I want to beat it in order. The load times are only during the intro of each chapter and are not too long, the Xbox version I played. I enjoyed the game and if you enjoy Star Wars and hack/slash gameplay, this game is for yoU!

On the plus side, playing as Grievous is super cool.

I think the original trilogy is in the works. I've read that somewhere...After the level it says "To be continued." Whether this means an original trilogy Lego Star Wars game, who can say?
