Childhood toy. Not complete, but still very cool. And includes the little Scorpion vehicle. Also the spring launcher that shoots out the Cobra works GREAT!

$24

Doesn't include shipping...I have no idea what that will be but I can find out upon inquiry.

I hope it finds a good home. : )

That is awesome! If I had a son instead of a daughter I'd snatch it up right now!

I wish Battle Beasts had made this with the cobra colored head. It is an awesome play station.

I'm thinking that before I get rid of it ... I'll have to take a picture of my ROTB figs standing on it.

I have one of these, sans cobra head. I have all the little pieces that attached to it too, which makes not having the cobra head even goofier. Not asking you to just sell the head of course...someday I will find one to complete mine. I used to love starriors; I have 8 of them in various sizes that I have accumulated in lots over the years. One of Tomy's better toy lines for sure. Good luck selling it. I think that is a fair price!

Yeah, that Cobra head is pretty damn cool.  I seem to remember having a dinosaur looking Starrior... like a small blue and white brontosaurus that has a zip pull on it and would zoom off accordingly.  I haven't seen him in years.  Maybe one of these days he will turn up too.

One of my favorite things about this line is that you would have the little shiny gold or silver men in the heads of the robots.  I guess they were the pilots.  I thought it was cool to have a figure sealed inside of a figure.  I was never familiar with the story line... the only comics that I read were the ones that came with the toys.  Speaking of which...

if I can find it, whoever buys the Cobra station ALSO gets a Starrior mini comics that came with the toys.  It's pretty bent up, but if I can find it I'll throw it in the package.

I have one of the mini comics too. The actual story of the toys is weird...the little figures that look like pilots were actually just robot brains in the shape of people..????...not sure why, but that is what the bio for the toys says. They live in a post apocalyptic world after people are gone. Robots made by humanity to rebuild after humanity..but of course a faction of them go all skynet and say screw that. I'm not really sure what the point of all of it is...robots fighting over what people originally programmed them for when there are no more people anyway. But, hey...fun toys! Sounds like you had Strazor in Dinosaur mode as well...he also came out as a motorcycle...not sure why.

Lol... well they are both by Tomy!!

There was another version of the same towline that came in after the success of Starriors.  These were straight up knock offs of Starriors and I think they were released in another country.  I can't remember what they were called.  I think they had initials like G.U.T.S and the like.

They weren't motorized like Zoids.  And I think the little chrome little men are smaller with the Starriors line I think.

Yep that's them. R.A.T.S. They were the bastard stepchild of Starriors! I believe starriors came out before Zoids too. They were Tomy's og original wind up robot warriors!

I found this...

Apparently Zoids was 1982 on and Starriors was a couple of years later."

Uses of the molds in other toylines[edit]

The Runabout toy was originally developed for the Zoids line, but was instead released as a Starrior. As a result, the toy has a number of stylistic links to the early Zoids, such as the Bigasaur, as well as sharing similar labels and even carrying Helic Republic insignias.

Many Starriors figures and vehicles were recolored and released by Tomy in Europe under the name R.A.T.S. (Robot Anti-Terror Squad).

OH and yes I was thinking of RATS!!

Btw, PF, that is a good price for that play set...

Very interesting how they kept re-branding what could have been a single toy line.

I think Bandai might have stolen the little silver driver idea, haha.

I owned the 1983 Bumblebee VW beetle transformer and it had a tiny silver driver veryyyyy similar to what TOMY had...

Can you mount a Series 2-3 Battle Beasts or Laser Beasts on the standing pegs? THis playset looks like it would integrate well with the 3 Battle Beasts playsets.

I think those little silver drivers have been around since the dawn of time...lol. I have seen them in so many toys over the years...at least in some similar form. I think they started off in astronaut toys from the 70's...then robotech used them in some kits, which led to all the robot lines utilizing them later!

Good point.  I suppose if we had the time, we could point out hundreds of "borrowed" ideas, haha.  Heck, don't half the collectors around here go for bootlegs anyway.

Damn, that's right! I didn't even think about those....I just had and sold a few too. We should compile a list of all the various examples of silver space robot pilots in 70's and 80's toys!
