Nah, man, I have to disagree. They did well by Mick and Funk, and I will always thank Barry Blaustein for exposing Dennis Stamp to a national audience... But what they did to Jake Roberts was really shitty. They knew they ran a hit-piece on him, and didn't even invite him to the premiere of the movie, when the other wrestlers involved WERE. Mega shitty.

"The Resurrection of Jake the Snake Roberts", I feel, is a lot more honest of a take.

Here's the trailer, with a little bit of NSFW language:

He seems like a super nice dude. I met Jake at a show up in Detroit, where I was working security for one of these indy feds that a friend(s) of mine was working on. Jake certainly had his demons, but was super nice to everyone, myself included. It always bummed me out when people talked shit about Jake and made fun of his issues, because he didn't use it as an excuse to be shitty to others... He needed help. I'm really glad he got it, and got a little misty during his HOF speech.

I agree man I am happy to see him get back in shape and doing the right thing!

The Abdullah electrocution was one of wrestling's more absurd moments but it was Halloween Havoc so I don't mind the theatrics being amped up a bit. And I loved Foley; how could you not? The guy gave up his body for the craft more than most.

Honestly, I think he's a great guy, and is in one of my favorite Wrestlemania matches (vs Edge, hardcore match), but most of the time I was just kind of like "Oh, he's going to get hung up in the ropes. Oh, he's going to get irish whipped really hard across the ring steps." I liked his Rock and Sock stuff better, because he slowed down, the shit he was getting in meant more, and you got to see more of his personality shine through the character.

I'll always have more of a predisposed affection for the shooter/grappler guys that can actually hook... Or the absolute shit-heels. Hell, I was the one guy cheering for Steve Corino in ECW BEFORE he had that bull rope match with Dusty.

Ah yes, the Foley/Edge hardcore match at WrestleMania 22 was an excellent match -- probably my all-time favorite hardcore match as it wasn't simply the standard hardcore fare but also an actual wrestling match. I attended the SNME that was held at Cobo Arena a week or two prior to Mania and Edge teased the flaming table spot that night so I was especially geeked to see that as the finish of the match at Mania.

I'm with you on the shooter/grapper and shit-heel types. Who are some of your all-time favorite wrestlers, ironmask?

As a kid, the world started and ended with Piper, but I was a huge fan of Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson as well. So, those three run the deepest, but as I got older I developed a better appreciation for Curt Hennig, Rick Rude (most underrated of all time), love William Regal, Dean Malenko, Kenta Kobashit, Sakuraba, Corino, Low Ki, big fan of the Dudley Boy, LOD, Tully Blanchard, Bockwinkle, Harley Race, Savage, Chono... There's a lot. You?

I'll hit you guys with a slew from different periods of my life. When I first got into wrestling in the late 80's I wasn't crazy for Hogan or Warrior, no I loved the likes of Hacksaw Jim Duggan and The Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich. From there in no particular order: Bret Hart, Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, Undertaker, Eddie Guerrero, Piper, CM Punk, Edge, Daniel Bryan, Mr. Perfect, Ricky Steamboat.

Man, how did I forget Edge and Eddie? Edge was one of those special cases, where I thought I just wanted him to go away... Until he retired abruptly. Then I was like "Oh no, I'm going to miss him!" and realized that he was one of the best heels of his generation. Eddie? Eddie Guerrero was in a class all his own. Well, he and Owen, who I also miss.

I never gave a shit about Warrior, one way or the other, and always despised Hogan. My favorite Hogan memory, was when he joined the nWo and Heenan announced "I've been telling you all this whole time!" Haha what a great payoff to 20 years of heeling a dude on broadcast.
