MINI-MATES ARE LAME!!! The wanna-be Lego/Action figure mash-up design is weak!

I got interested for a second, because of the comic...

but they don't look like warriors ready to battle anything... one hit to the hip, and they'd be crippled!

These are stupid. Look at those hands. Look at those ridiculous chest plates. Look at those blocky legs and dumb crotch piece.

And he is right:

WHAT are these things?

WHAT are these things?

Those are the "official" sequel to the original Battle Beasts line. Made by the same company that made the figures int he 80's, Takara.

Love the head sculpts... but the bodies all look the sam/very similar.

Yep, exact same body with different head sculpts. BTW, there is a new bat head sculpt that Jason Frailey just did.

Great new head! They have to put those in full production soon so I will be able to get a huge bat army.

if beast saga was a chick in a bar after 2am, id be in jail until the next morning. i fell in love. somebody in this thread wrote that the mini-mates arent battle beasts, just animals dressed liked warriors. thats a great point. they are still cool though. i'll more than likely pick up as many as possible when im in toysrus. but for really collecting, like going crazy on ebay, beast saga is for me.

I'm definitely supporting the new Beast Saga line. Initially when Diamond Select announced their "Battle Beasts" I was into it, purely for nostalgic reasons; I thought it would be cool to buy something again with the Battle Beast name on it. The problem with the DST versions is that they share the name and nothing else in my opinion. I honestly think I would like them better if they were called something else. That may sound stupid but I just expect something else when I think of Battle Beasts, and although I could be wrong I feel that DST is hoping to sell a lot of these purely based on the hope that the name makes people nostalgic for the old toys. But as someone who absolutely loved (and hasn't ever stopped loving) Battle Beasts and M.U.S.C.L.E.s as a kid more than anything else I can say that these Minimates are NOT Battle Beasts. The Beast Saga figs feel like a natural continuation of the original line and I'm really loving them and can't wait until September. At least we have the summer to wait through...
My opinion aside, I really think that it is a great time to be a Battle Beast collector with so many available options and I think its great that there is still so much love for these little guys. I'm new to the site and I've been nosing around looking at a lot of the custom figs. Awesome, awesome work on that stuff!

The bat head is crazy awesome. I can't wait to get one and pop it on an Armorvor then add a pair of Glyos compatible Outer Space Men bat wings, or Spy Monkey bat wings to complete the figure.

I think out of all the options, the armovors are the ones that look most like the old school battle beasts to me. They'll be getting my support.

If I can find/understand how to buy them...I'm confused about glyos in general, even after visiting their webpage...

I'm really into the Beast Saga line more than ever now that all the toy fair promo pics are here. There are some 40 known figures now and another 60+ in the wings... It just gets better, IMHO.
