I just got a set of the orinigal 4 turtles on cards... Pretty cool, I think, since my childhood memories of TMNT are much clearer than my memories of muscles...

All four on ebay for $50. Thats 12.50 each. Not too bad...

The Turtles were rereleased a few years back at KB, so that probably drove the prices down. I'm not sure if there's any way to tell if you have an original or a rerelease (if I remember correctly, the rereleases didn't change the copyright information... doh). I actually have a Raph that I bought back in the day of the originals, and the card that EASports bought looks pretty much exactly the same, so I would guess it's probably an original.

They say C 1988, but if they didn't change that in the rerelease... That would be lame. But then again, if there's no way to tell the difference, then who could tell anyways?

Now that I think about it, I believe... but don't quote me on this... that the rereleases all came on the same generic TMNT card. I could be wrong, but I don't remember the different turtles being on character-specific cards (when I saw the rereleases back then, I seem to remember noticing the generic card, and thinking it was odd).

But loose figure collectors are still screwed since they didn't change the copyright dates.

By the way, can the TMNT accessories be any flimsier?! I broke Raph's sai a few years ago, and Leo's sword and Mike's nunchakus will be broken pretty soon...

Dude, Michelangelo's nunchucks were always the first to go... But yes, I think they could be flimsier, anything's possible in these wild and crazy times.
