Hey what's up everybody!  B)

Just thought I'd give a brief update on which MIMP I've gathered together from across the pond (i.e. North America and Europe) so this is what I've got thus far:

Attached File  IMG_3370.JPG   129.16K   17 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3371.JPG   100.97K   21 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3379.JPG   120.12K   18 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3376.JPG   91.87K   11 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3373.JPG   110.03K   12 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3374.JPG   107K   11 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3375.JPG   82.45K   11 downloads

As you can see the writing on the Super Scary box somewhat differs from the UK/US versions as well as there being no plastic window. Written in various languages is the leaflet inside with all the figure's correct names but still excluding Hanuman, also advertises the Konami video game which is rather unique. This came from Germany.

Regarding the series 1 box, this came from France and features a company logo I've not heard of with a rainbow on the top left hand corner. Other than that it's pretty much identical to all UK/US versions and has all the ones included that are mentioned in the "figures packaging guide" apart from Greece which has a different assortment of figures inside with a slight variation of box art on the outside.

The Canadian premiums have cello wrapper and card eerily similar to that of what the first series were issued in Frosted Wheat Squares throughout the USA. Only difference being there's no writing on the back in bold black letters.

Anyone else care to share what they have? Please let me know!  ;)

Nice 'so fresh & so clean, clean' collection there mate!

Was there any difference between Canada & US series 3 cereal promotions?

Also interesting to see that my UK 6 pack contained the exact same monsters as your German one.

I just always thought that the monsters inside were picked at random (obviously not)? :-)

These never came into France??  :huh: Thought they'd have been available worldwide like the first series. I don't suppose you know anything about that "GRAND" company do you trumanshower? Their logo seems to be plastered all over French MIMP boxed sets only.

Yeah I thought the selection process for Super Scary in other countries woulda been different too CC. The only set that doesn't contain a certain monster is the Chinese Wildman set. Instead of Hanuman they've put Thunderdell in place of him. So over in Germany there's two packs with Thunderdell in!!  :wacko: Another unique thing about this if you look more closely, they've made a typo with Houngan's name calling him "Houngam" instead.

Regarding cereal wrappers from US/Canada, these were made in a slightly different plastic material to one another. I forgot that the series 1 premiums have a thin silver piece of card with the figure whereas the Canadian one's don't have that: https://www.ebay.com...=p2047675.l2557

"Grand" or "Grand V" was the distributor of series one 1 packs (common colors, not neon),4 packs and 12 packs in France. I think i've never seen an other product distributed by them.

In France only a few Super Scary were available as prize in Xeetabix cereals, mainly  unicolors.

Ah I see, GRAND V it's called? Was nearly there! lol ^_^

Cheers for sharing anyways truman, I've never seen this French ad anywhere else before. I take it their logo must've been featured on the 24-packs along with the monster mountain and clash game then?

What was Xeetabix cereal by the way, and which Super Scaries were given away inside?  :huh:

24 packs weren't available in France. For the mountain I think the ones we had were europeans, in english deutch french and dutch, so distributed by Matchbox.

I meant Weetabix aka Weetos. Don't know exactly witch ones were availables as prizes, as I've never found a picture of the french box, but probably the sames as those ones :

Oh I see, yeah Weeto's were great back then, sadly they don't taste as good now!  :(

Yep, that's the exact same promo as the UK, the only painted figures I got from that were the glowing 100-point ones. Lamia turned up on at least two occasions, and I even recall trying to decorate one with dark green paint for the hair. Man, what a mess that was! lol  :lol:

It's weird how they included both painted and non painted versions of certain sculpts and not others. I've never seen a fully painted Closet Creature, Drude or Alu free inside these packets yet you could get all the others that way. In fact it would've been better if they had all versions fully decorated such as G.I.T.D. Yellow/Green Thunderdell, Yama and Astaroth or Purple/Yellow Fachen and Red/Green Wurdulac etc. That would've boosted popularity very dramatically for that cereal product for sure.

What other similar promos did you have over there then truman, did you have Honey Loops too? I reckon they should've included a few more this one as well. Attached File  Honey loops mimp promo.jpg   100.77K   7 downloads

Only 4 wrestlers?? We had a whole set of 8 (9 if you include Tony the coach). I take it you didn't get series 2 with Frosties like we did then. It seems like everywhere else across the globe got the short straw when it came to MIMP distribution compared to us Brits. No wonder it was so popular over here!  :o

It's kinda worse for the likes of Mexico and Peru as they only got bootleg figures rather than the official releases. I've also never seen any bugs or dinos come from other countries. Unless someone can prove me wrong on that of course. These could've been much more widely available around the world considering matchbox is such a big name, but I guess when they tested the water with these and didn't gain enough popularity, they maybe thought it wasn't worth issuing other series into those particular continents.

So are you still in the collecting game these days truman?  :)

Regarding cereal wrappers from US/Canada, these were made in a slightly different plastic material to one another.

That's where the 'big boy' ones came from was it the US? Ive heard this term being used.

So your hoping to collect all 9 sculpts (3 to go) in sealed packets as a future endeavour then Ant?

So you're a lot like me in that respect then truman!  ;)

Ah yes, forgot about Big Boy packets. They're blind bags unfortunately so you can't tell what's inside, they still fetch a pretty penny though. Personally they're not my cup of tea: http://www.raumhafen...et Monster Pack

Yep just 2 Shreddies and a Konami to go. Although again, as mentioned in a previous thread, prices for these lil' critters tend to be very hit & miss. To get the Nintendo monster I'd have to buy the game along with it even though I've not got a console to play it on. Secondly, not only will it be SUPER expensive (if still mint & sealed) but I won't know which colour figure it will be. Ideally I'd like him to be either green or orange. So in the end I'll most likely settle for a loose version (good like new).

Just take a look at these, totally insane!!  :wacko:

https://www.ebay.co....vAAAOSwR1FeCZts

https://www.ebay.co....rwAAOSwaJpeDOTh

https://www.ebay.co....Y4AAOSwb71eYVqO

And this is what some loose Big Boy figures go for. Not all the time, but depends on the sculpt and colour:

For Blemmyae, it seems you can know the color of the figure depending on the country of origins, and maybe a code on the box can confirm the provenance :

Green -> Deutchland (NOE)
Orange -> USA (US)
Blue -> Canada (CAN)
Pink -> United Kingdom (UKV)

Yep I think that's the sane option going for the Nintendo guy as a loose one if you do. Its kinda do-able then but still gonna put a nice dent in your wallet ;-)
But at least it's a realistic option to save for.

Can't believe how high prices some MIMP demand really as buy it nows. What ever happened to starting an auction at a lower price & leaving it to reach its own value? Id wonder what they'd really go for then? :-/

The only S3 MIMP that I had as a kid was a blue Blemm that came with the NES game that was bought in the U.S.

maybe this theory is wrong, i've heard this from a Nintendo Nes collector, but I have no proof of this.

I landed two orange ones from UK ebay sellers a few years back, not collectors selling off figures as one wa a buy it now in a small lot for about a tenner, and a green one. Can't remember where my blue one was from though.
