So I'm making a bet on the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight on May 2nd.

I'm torn on who to bet on, because I know I should bet on the favorite Mayweather, who has gone undefeated, so it should be straightforward to bet on him since their really is no reason not too. Just like someone gets a car loan on Good Credit, you can say Mayweather has Great Credit and so approve his car loan.

But then I'm thinking, betting on Pacquiao, the return is almost twice as much. So the greed factor is kicking me with indecision. Should I go Pacquiao and possibly triple my money? Hmm.

Should I parlay the bet? Should I just bet straight and pick 1 and hope I get it right?

I'm thinking the fight will most likely amount to going the distance with Mayweather getting the decision, a typical outcome for the guy. But that leaves much to be desired.

It's actually in Mayweather's financial interest to lose because he will get a rematch with Pacquiao, for probably yet another 60-100 million dollar payday. Turn it into a trilogy were talking theoretically Mayweather can generate a quarter billion dollars for himself. A great way to end his boxing career with riches, the trade off though would be sacrificing his perfect record. I'm not suggesting Mayweather take a dive, just that if he is losing the fight and knows it, he might just let it slip through his fingers the rest of the fight knowing their is still another lucarative opportunity next time. So if Pacquiao is winning the fighting scoring-wise early on, I can see Mayweather kind of becoming inactive in the fight and lose much like Joshua Clottey did to Pacquiao. This is just a possible mindset of Mayweather that might playout, then again Mayweather is very much about keeping that perfect record intact.

Normally Pacquiao is the favorite, but he suffered some loses and even been knocked out. None of that has happen to Mayweather, and I doubt he will get knocked out in the fight, he spent the last 17+ years avoiding getting KO'ed, so I doubt its going to happen now.

Decision [Current count from this thread]
1) Mayweather WINS going the distance [IIIII]
2) Pacquiao WINS going the distance [II]

NO knockouts by either fighter
BOTH fighters going the distance
WIN by decision

What do you think? Who is your pick? How will he win?

Very far from a boxing expert, but...

Mayweather will win comfortably on points, unless Pacquiao stops him before then.

Pacquiao lost his teeth. This fight would have been exciting five years ago, but I echo what Danny said. Mayweather will beat him on the scorecards, and they can both go back to being their own respective brand of shitbag.

So I got 2 for May, 1 for Pac. Also from what I gather most of the Los Vegas Casinos are betting on Mayweather. A rule of thumb for the House, is they either have the advantage in every game or bet on the favorite.

I agree that 5 years ago Pac could have possibly won. But not now.

Agree as well.

I'll say this, though I think Mayweather will win, I would not be surprised with a Pacquiao upset.

I think a better question is how many people here are going to pay the 100 dollars to watch this?

I usually watch boxing when it's on for free, and read about it when they want to charge $100 to watch Floyd hug a guy for eight rounds.

An entertaining fight. It's hard to live up to all that hype. Though not the result I'd hoped for... I really wanted to see that prick go down. I always worry about Pacquiao's technique of smiling before the fight. I feel like you need to be aggressive & tenacious. Had he had that I think Pacquiao might have won. He kept backing off when he had Mayweather on the ropes. Foolish. Same goes for his post fight interview. Foolish. He clearly lost on points. Mayweathers endurance allowed him to become comfortable & regain his rhythm late. Pacquiao missed his opportunity. I'd expected more.

Though I'll say this... It was entertaining to see a flustered and out of rhythm Mayweather mid fight :)

Lame result, decent fight. It's not super fun to watch someone run for 12 rounds... "the best ever", I don't think so. Still a Pacquiao fan. Despite the fact that tonight he was so uncharacteristicly humble and respectful of Pacquiao... Mayweather is SUCH A SELF RIGHTIOUS ASSHOLE.

Not to mention his record of domestic abuse. Jerk off.

I couldn't help but watch, I do love the sport... Though I did not pay.

Well I ended up gambling away my betting money, so I couldn't put in a bet for Mayweather going the distance as I had intended, so stupid.  But the general consensus from this thread as well as the disdain was pretty accurate. Mayweather did win, it seemed like Manny would have been more effective if he had face Floyd five years ago. The people who paid for this fight kind of got ripped off, five years of waiting for a rather uneventful fight. LRG, you guys called it on this one.

I didn't bother watching it. I had several pretty lengthy conversations with Plastico about this, and pretty much everything that he and I discussed came to pass.

Boxing is going to continue to slide, as long as the fighters are the ones making the matches.

It went exactly as it was supposed to go. 5 years ago Pac would have had a great chance to win. Mayweather waited him out til he posed very little risk. Which is to be expected since both of them have spent entire careers doing the same thing to other fighters. The fight itself was insignificant as is any fight either of them agree to these days. They won't fight the guys that can beat them and they will both retire soon. 5 years from now their careers will be seen as what could have been and never was but that's about it. The funniest part is that from an unbiased point of view Pac has had a much more significant career than Mayweather even with all his losses.

As far as their personal lives are concerned it's easy to see why Mayweather is hated. Pac is pretty ridiculous as well. The funniest thing I ever saw him do was using his power as a congressman to try to legally outlaw birth control in his entire country because it goes against God while at the same time his own wife was on birth control cause she didn't want more kids. Funny guy.

Nice call, this guy is good. It's hard for him to get a big name to fight against him... 20 KOs in a row is intimidating as eff. Lots of power, can cut the ring very impressively and seems to have a hell of chin.
