Curious to know if others have got what I would regard to be the rarest Premiums?

Pine Green Hydra
Orange Hydra
Orange Trex
Blue Cyclops
Pink Cyclops (need proof of existence)
Pink Jotun Troll

Do you think my list is incorrect?

Two years ago, I think, the market was flooded with cyan Jotun Trolls, pine T-Rexes, and orange Hydras by this one seller who inexplicably kept selling them in lots of five each. I won an auction of each and divided them up among collectors here (and eventually sold the ones I had kept). So I might not call those rare exactly, but some of the others are certainly up there in terms of rarity.

That is interesting to know Boaconda! Were they mainly coming from the U.S?
I am also stumped by their origin... I only base my assumption on the fact that
I rarely seen them on Ebay within the last year and a half. Plus don't know that
many collectors with them (but as with your past experience it might be one
collector may be hoarding them ;))

Aikola you were one of my noted that had the Orange Hydra  Very nice! Do
you remember where you got it?

The seller was indeed from the United States. I don't remember a more specific location, but if I find the old thread discussing those auctions, maybe it'll have more to add. As I recall, the seller wasn't very forthcoming about the source of these, but at the sheer quantity of those three and only those three MIMPs, I'm inclined to think it had some connection to distribution, like factory leftovers that were found and being unloaded. There was no associated packaging with the figures, just loose, and they all looked to be in the same degree of minty condition. I don't think the seller was a collector, although if he wasn't the original owner, maybe the previous one was. They certainly weren't in the grubby mitts of kids, and I'm talking about 25+ of each sculpt.

Given the sculpts and colors involved - all high-point values, two colors each in two different pairs - it's reasonable to assume that much like the board game and cereal Series 1 figures, the Hydra, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Cyclops and Jotun Troll all came from a similar source. It's also interesting that the far more rare figures of the bunch are also part of the same color pairing of cyan and pink. Sure, the Hydra and Rex don't pop up that much, but nobody knew a pink Troll existed and you still can't find a picture of a pink Cyclops! That says something to me, but I'm not sure what.

Yeah, I was one of the lucky ones who scored them from Boa, I think asator was another.
I think Boa is right, I think they all have the same source of origin,
It is strange that they were listed as lots of 5, and kind of intruiging as to why he had so many, it might be time to revisit my premiums page and update it.

Pine Green Hydra (seen a pic)
Orange Hydra (seen a pic)
Orange Trex (seen a pic)
Blue Cyclops (seen a pic)
Pink Cyclops (need proof of existence)
Pink Jotun Troll (OWN WOOP WOOP)

This list is indeed what i believe to be the rarist of all series 1 mimp premiums.

Also it should be noted that on the front of the mimp board game an orange Great Beast & Orange Griffin can be seen.

I believe perhaps they exist to as it is unlikely that they would only make one of these 2 put on the boxes?

Oh and if anyone has any of the above figures i am open to trade / large cheques :)

Really hope we can get all pics of these little buggers to add to your site Darryl

Boaconda - It is interesting that those particular premiums were listed together
and does suggest perhaps a pink figure should of been along side them. So it
was Orange Hydra, Pine Green TRex and Blue Jotun Troll? There was never a
Pink figure sold by this seller from your memory?

I wonder where the Orange Trex and Pink Jotun Troll fit in. Could it be that
Blue Cyclops and Pine Green Hydra could be lumbered in this set of colours?!

This is merely speculation...

Daxel101uk - thanks for making me laugh this morning

Rarebob - Yes the Monster in my Pocket boardgame I have also wondered
before. Here is an image: http://www.x-enterta...ics2/mimp14.jpg

Premiums not reported:
Blue Cockatrice
Orange Great Beast
Pine Green Hydra (known exists)
Orange Griffin

If the others do exist it will certainly throw up more questions :/

there does seem to be a pattern for the first 12 figures

1. Great Beast Blue & Green Group 1
2. Hydra Orange & Green Group 3
3. Werewolf Orange & Pink Group 2
4. Behemoth Blue & Green Group 1
5. Griffin Blue & Green Group 1
6. T-Rex Orange & Green Group 3
7. Cockatrice Orange & Pink Group 2
8. Cyclops Blue &Pink(maybe) Group 4
9. Tengu Blue & Green Group 1
10. Triton Orange & Pink Group 2
11. Kraken Orange & Pink Group 2
12. Jotun Troll Blue & Pink Group 4

As you can see Group 1 & 2 came with 4 pairs and groups 3&4 came in 2 pairs

Does seem weird for them just to produce the first 12 in 2 premium colours except cyclops if that is the case?

Premiums not reported:
Blue Cockatrice
Orange Great Beast
Orange Griffin

These would be so cool if they were made!! unsure what groups they would fit in

Aikola - Dont surpose you'd be interested in selling your orange Hydra £80 bid from me

Doing the math in my head, eighty quid would yield a hefty profit compared to what he paid for that Orange Hydra. ;) I'm glad Aikola is keeping it; no offense RareBob.

There was definitely no pink figure at the time of the other auctions, because I'd have bid on them if there was. If the seller unloaded anything MIMP before or after that batch of auctions, I wouldn't know. Seemed like a one-time deal.

I wonder where the Orange Trex and Pink Jotun Troll fit in. Could it be that Blue Cyclops and Pine Green Hydra could be lumbered in this set of colours?!

That was exactly what I was suggesting in my previous post. I believe that those eight figures - blue and pink Cyclops, pine and orange Hydra, blue and pink Jotun Troll, and pine and orange T-Rex - are from a particular source, even if we don't know exactly what that source is right now.

Alternate board game figures are unlikely, due to the sheer prevalence of the Behemoth/Kraken/Tengu/Triton quartet. If they were cereal premiums, the promotion had to be after the Shredded Wheat one, and was lost in time and forgotten somehow. The only cassette specimen I've ever seen that's sealed with premium figure (on the German site) was an orange Werewolf, but maybe that's an option. Anything beyond that and I'm out of my depth.
