“Flavor of the Month” toys

1.) MASK – During a stretch of Christmas and my birthday I got most of the toy line, and I played with it quite often. I loved the cartoon and I was able to act out my own stories. I remember loving their helmets and how their powers came from it (didn’t they?). My favorite toy in the line was the semi-truck. I loved the mobile “battle station” with the firing rocket and the hitch that disconnected and became a little vehicle of its own.
2.) Power Lords – At least I think this was the name of the line? Their waists had a button and when it was pushed they spun around so their “power” or “mutant” side showed. I remember thinking that this toy was so cool, but it was such a flavor of the month. I think the problem was that I didn’t know much about the toys and I don’t think there were many of them.
3.) The Karate Kid – I think I had the first wave of figures (Daniel, Mr Meogi, and the Bad guy). Plus I used my Chuck Norris figures with them. Apparently I wasn’t into karate as much as I thought I was. To be perfectly honest I can remember playing with these figures once. What was I thinking?
4.) M.U.S.C.L.E. – Are you shocked to se this one on the list? Don’t be. While I did love these, and played with them often. I don’t remember them being available for a long period of time. I got a good number of figures, had some friends I traded with, but it couldn’t have lasted more than a year.
So does my question makes sense now? What were your “flavor of the month” toys?

No, that actually makes sense. It was a very "flash-in-the-pan" type of toyline. Here are some of my favorite "flavor of the month" toylines (other than the ones you mentioned... I remember getting a few Power Lords in my day):4.) M.U.S.C.L.E. – Are you shocked to se this one on the list?
Inhumanoids: Although I couldn't give a rat's arse about the human heroes, I loved the creatures in this line! But my interest in the line didn't extend past Tendril, D-Compose, the tree guy, and the magma guy, and after I got those and the line fizzled out, so did my interest.
Sectaurs: Another line with great creatures! The coolest toys in the Sectaur line were the large insects that they could ride on. They were sort of like puppets, where you could put your hand in them and make their legs move! But again, Sectaur was a pretty brief and limited toy line, and after I got the tarantula and the dragonfly, I had pretty much no interest in the line.
Rocks & Bugs & Things: I was really into RBTs! The line was fun, but with little support from tie-ins like cartoons it was doomed to fail.

I had one of the human Inhumanoids, a blue one with green claws. What was the story behind these? Weren't they miners or something?
The Sectaurs were great too. I never had any but I really remember the bug gloves. Weren't the gloves fabric very similar to Iceatoner (sp?) gloves.

Wheeled Warriors - Ditto! Hella expensive nowadays!
Transformers - What can I say? Only my dad made enough $$ to afford these, and I only saw him once every 6 months to a year. Needless to say, my Transformers glory days were very limited.
and last but not least...
Battle Beasts - I had a bunch, but not for long.
Honorable mention - Belly Buttons! (Clip on funky looking "outies" that were about as big around as a peppermint patty.)

Battle Beasts: Although I think Battle Beasts were out for a longer time than the Rocks, Bugs, and Things, I still never got as many as I would have wanted. I remember a freind in school bringing his full collection of Battle Beasts in a ziploc bag. There were so many, and I hoped to get them all, but it never happened.
I was banned! Read ALL about it! http://www.littlerub...showtopic=23333

And if so, who would be their target audience, adult collectors or kids?
What changes would you make if you did bring them back?
For me it would be MASK. If there was a cartoon to launch the toy line with, then I think it could be successful. These toys really benefit from knowing who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. I think I would keep the same scale. However, if it could be made bigger without getting too expensive then I would try that. I would also start off with many of the same vehicle ideas, although I might dump the motorcycle that turned into a helicopter. I never understood that one? As a kid I always thought, “Geez motorcycles are dangerous, why would they attach a spinning blade?”
Oh, and in case it wasn’t clear. I would gear the line towards kids.

They were Sectaurs, I had a few including one that glowed in the dark.I remember some toyline with bug men or something, I had one that was like he-man size, metallic blue, and he came with a little 6 legged bug monster dog. What was he??
Here are some of my other flash in the pans-
Guts- little painted soldiers that were not articulated, I almost had every one except the devil dogs. (probably the Marines)
Wheeled warriors- remember the green brains that drove the enemy machines?
Voltron- I loved em for a few months while they were out.( I`d kill for the original Matchbox one in mint!!)
Power Lords- The enemies ruled, not to mention Adam Power himself.
Crystar- I used to go nuts when I was a kid trying to find Warbow. I found the lava dragon in great shape earlier this summer at a garage sale.
Penny Racers, Burning key cars and lock-ups, anyone remember these?
Centurians- I could not wait to get Max Ray, when I finally got him I lost most of his weapons in 2 weeks not to mention enthusiasm for them in general.

I had that Voltron, but had to give it up when it was recalled because of lead paint. Apparently my parents were afraid of me eating a die-cast metal lion.

You lucky sob!! My parents would never of bought me any of them. Speaking of freaked out parents, mine flipped out over the Boba Fett that fired that missile!! ( It`s not like I could of found him in the stores!)I had that Voltron, but had to give it up when it was recalled because of lead paint. Apparently my parents were afraid of me eating a die-cast metal lion.
One line I forgot about was Robo Force(I think that`s what they were called) I had 1 of them and a vehicle. I still want some of them!!

GUTS were one too. I had the marines and the grey guys with blue guns... oh and the blue scuba divers. My favorites were the grey guy who was down on one knee aiming the rifle like a sniper and the bald marine holding a big freekin machine gun
I don't think I could call MUSCLEs a flavor of the month though because me and my cousin played with them for like a year and half at least. Ever time we would see each other we woud have to bring over our MUSCLEs, trade and have all out wars... and then remember whose were whose. And I set up my own MUSCLE football league when I was younger. Of course I was the only member, but hey... I was the most imaginitive little kid I knew.

I had Ggrippttogg and Sydot when I was a kid. I remember they were made of very brittle plastic, and broke pretty easily.

Saw Boss Boxed
Saw Boss Loose... look at all those accessories!!!
KO Kruiser Boxed
Wheeled Warriors Accessory Pack
Mobile Base
Beast Walker
Hero Vehicles
They seem relatively cheap. That loose Saw Boss isn't really going for much. By the way, I in no way endorse any of these auctions...
