Hello everyone!

I have a 3D printer and would like to try to print m.u.s.c.l.e. figures. I have looked for some but with no outcome. Does anyone happen to have any STL files of m.u.s.c.l.e. figures or any tips? Has anyone 3d printed one before?

Thanks,

Greyson

Hey, I. just found this awesome site. I have a handful of M.U.S.C.L.E men and I started scanning them in with my Ein Scan pro white light scanner.  I can share files if thats of interest. A coworker and I are working on custom figures that we want just for fun. I could share those two if interested.

So I have been scanning, and I am getting cleaner results. I have more than I need to clean these files up accurately. I plan to try and get my hands on every figure to scan. I think it would be rad to have a fully digital 3D library. Here are some screen captures of the results so far.

Hey all, Early on, I offered to share some scans. I am not sure how many I will share in the grand scheme, but I wanted first to fulfill my word and get at least one or two out into the community. So here is a heavily decimated scan. Please note this is a scan of a pretty poorly cast bootleg. The parting lines and missing detail demonstrate the low quality of the figure.  Open to feedback, however.  I do plan to endeavor and make excellent high-quality scans of the models for future reference.

Looks like links on this topic have gone bad.   Well here's what .stl and .obj files I've found.

EDIT: Found some more including Satan Cross!  But they cost $2 a piece on cult3d.com.   Look elsewhere for free ones first.   Bought some I didn't have but not everything.   Models aren't quite as crisp as original figures but the detail is there, same quality as others.

https://www.yeggi.com/q/kinnikuman/

Found #235 Buffaloman / Terri-Bull for $1

https://cults3d.com/...-s-c-l-e-figure

#235 Buffaloman with LOD armor!  (remixed by me)

https://www.thingive...m/thing:5542751

Really hoping to find some versions of (Kinnikuman) Soldier(man) and the two tank guys, Hunting Man and Leopardon to print in army Olive Green PLA Pro+ when my white runs out.   The Hunter, Iron Commando, Combatman, and Cannonballer would also be good.  Also I got to decide who or what I'm going to print two-tone, bottom white and top olive green, when I feed in the green as the white runs out, attempting to keep the print going, if I can gauge well enough when it'll run out.

This guy made or scanned really exact models of the first 60 and a few others.   If you zoom really close in or scale them up super size, you'll see they aren't quite perfectly crisp as the originals but they're definitely great to work with.

https://www.thingive...dgrivas/designs

Whenever I do make an account on thingiverse, I'll be sure to send this guy a tip for all the nice work he made available for free.  I downloaded all his MUSCLE and a few others.

I recommend looking closely at the scale.   I like to just slightly enlarge some MUSCLE compared to their original ranging from 102 to 106%.   A good height is 44mm at the top of the head.   Some other people's models may be much smaller or larger by default and should definitely be rescaled.

Models extracted from the GameCube game, but they rely on the texture gfx for details and are low poly so wouldn't make that great prints as they are.

https://www.models-r...matemusclelvng/

A less than exact imitation of #141 Kinnikuman, maybe based on a larger Keshi and guy just said it's #141.

https://www.thingive...m/thing:4463670

So far that makes available 1-60, 96, 141(imitation), 153, 178, 222 for free.

And for $1 or $2 each for their model: 77, 82, 99, 119, 122, 149, 189, 193, 194, 219, 235, 236

So that's 77 of 236 available currently.

https://www.thingive...iptuser/designs

Muscle Pug (same body as Muscle Shark v1 minus the fin)

https://www.thingive...m/thing:4360019

Not intended as MUSCLE style but pretty cool (I scaled him slightly down to 49mm tall, then rotated him to be flat on his back, manually & then with "Lay Flat", with automatic supports since amount of custom supports I was setting for him standing up weren't all saving into the gcode.   He is really bulky so might want to try 44 or 45mm for a better match to Muscle.)

https://www.printabl...-quake-shambler (good download)

Other places you just get a .obj file of the words "Thingiverse is Broken" instead of the actual Shambler

I wish this parody wasn't stuck on a base:

https://www.thingive...g:4949287/files

Maybe I should get some software that can take it off or I could cut it off a print.

Not a figure directly but a mold to cast Buff Patrick from Spongebob and tips how:

https://www.thingive...om/thing:437774

Oh here's a direct model that was remixed from:

https://www.thingive...om/thing:109834

EDIT: These Legends of Lucha Libre are gone from the cgtrader site and I didn't get them.

If you missed out on the Super 7 "Legends of Lucha Libre" MUSCLE, here's 3 similar "Champions de Lucha Libre" but you have to buy these models to print.    They are 3 different guys than the 6 by Super7.  They're $14.95 total, but currently on sale again for $7.47.   The models look great, though in the only picture of actual prints, their detail looks a little soft.
https://www.cgtrader...re-mini-figures

The Super7 ones were licensed by https://www.maskedrepublic.com (aside from Mattel owning the M.U.S.C.L.E. brand)

There's some other kinnikuman stuff on that store site including Teapackman, however low poly and in generic pose.

https://www.cgtrader...ords=kinnikuman

I added to my previous edited post:

Chojin Blood Oath Brigade Buffaloman or LoD Armor Terri-Bull (#235)

https://www.thingive...m/thing:5542751

UPDATE: Added versions holding a bazooka or two.

Now here's #58 Buffaloman C with LOD armor

https://www.mediafir...aloman.zip/file

I'd put it on thingiverse, but even though the regular #58 there is set to Creative Commons, it's not set to one allowing to link it as a source of a remix.   I'll put it up there if that changes.

Pro-Tip for downloading multiple files of a set from Thingiverse:

Click Thing Files, then go to your address bar, and change files to zip, and enter that.

Bam! Instant zip download!

Hmm that is a possibility.

There's a few things to keep in mind.   The models to print from are not as crisp as the original figures, so no matter the capabilities of the printer they will never be as good.  Even though the PLA Pro+ I'm printing with now is over 4x as strong as the cheap stuff, it's more rigid and brittle compared to M.U.S.C.L.E material.   I need to accomplish more flawless prints.  With the good stuff I've printed three Buffalomen with LOD armor at the time of this posting.   A #235 has a flaw in the back of one arm where you see an indentation or line of missing material across.   A #58 print seems to be flawless and I'd feel alright selling or trading to someone.  I printed another #235 holding a bazooka and had my printer halt with a stupid thermal runaway error several times.   I kept resuming but you can notice a flaw on each leg.   I haven't printed the one pointing two bazookas forward yet but it has occurred to me that I may have to add some kind of backpack or wings or something to the model to balance it to stand on its own.   Getting a lot of thermal runaway errors trying to print lately.   Hopefully it'll be better now that I've got the temperature up in my house.   I should probably get a new thermistor for my printer which is actually very cheap but just a pain in the ass.

You don't need a 3D printer to look at the model files.   You can open .stl or .obj files in 3D Viewer or Paint 3D in Windows to see what I have to work with.   Also MeshMixer is free.  Will let you know my progress.   A couple weeks ago I was churning out two figures a day almost every day, maybe more on the weekend, so hopefully this weekend will be productive.

EDIT: Damn thing is still halting with thermal runaway like mad at the moment.

Any preference of #58 with armor, #235 with armor, #235 with armor + one or two bazookas, or a few/all of them?   Currently just trying to print something though.   Think my thermistor might be shot.

UPDATE: Did a quick print no problem so far today.   Got replacement thermistors coming tomorrow.

Seems I really got to get a thermistor in but managed this print after many halts trying to start and one a little into it.   Just the right jetbooster didn't turn out quite right even though I thought I got the supports good..   Added the jetpack to counterbalance the bazookas.  Was a 8 or 9 and a half hour print and added it to my thingiverse page.

work-in-progress

Ympe79G.png

Made from #3 and parts of #15

UPDATE: Replaced thermistor, cross-referencing several tube vides how, and printer is now back in action it seems.   Replacing the whole thermistor cord was a pain in the ass method.   In hind sight, splicing the new one in would be quicker and easier, but at least I have a solid new cord all the way through from the hot end to motherboard with no splices.   Gently pulling it through the sheathing around the bunch of wires by temporarily electrical taping to the old thermistor cord was the easiest part.   Though the rest was a pain in the ass, the hardest part was untangling a set of five new thermistor cords.   They were rubber banded together in one bundle, and when I tried to pull just one out, it was the most horrendous tangle ever.   Probably took over an hour to get them all apart.   Took probably half an hour to forty minutes just to get one free.   Thought of cutting one to make it easier but didn't want to consider wasting one too much, and just kept at it.   It was worse than one of those Amish metal chain lock magic puzzle things!  Gave me an extra sense of accomplishment though, and maybe I should consider my potential to master some kind of ninja rope-jutsu or other rope magic.   Hopefully I get through Kinkotsuman/Skullduggery alright as a test print.

Reuploaded Spinning Head Ashuraman #27 as v2 in the zip.   Moved head down 0.1mm to be more against the floor in alignment with body and since that #27 had really bad misalignment with its two mold halves being misaligned (Look at your original figure), I bubble shrunk most of the seams as well as bubble smoothing/shrinking the mold holes/pegs on his back.   Before that revision I did a print.   Unfortunately like my previous attempt long ago with the white PLA material, not all the hands formed attached properly.   The peg and hole match perfectly.   Printed at 101% the hole and peg matched pretty close with my (probably smaller) reissue keshi of Spinning Head Ashuraman, but printing just 100% should work best to match.   Anyway, last time I did automatic supports and this time I did custom.  Even appearing to save properly, this seems to be the most difficult figure to get the supports right in the gcode file to print.   The alternate faces have some softer detail.  The eyes and mouth are almost invisible, just barely there on one.   Wish I knew how to deepen that on the model.

Spinning Head Ashuraman #27 updated to v3.   My v2 was missing the hole.

https://www.mediafir...aman27.zip/file

Not totally satisfied with my "Black Hole" Sunshine Magnum but have two versions.   Basically the first one pictured where I don't like some big open space around inside within the hole and has all the mold holes/pegs of the sculpt, and the border area around the hole is noticeably recessed back a little in the front of his chest.   V1 also has some error about not being manifold ever since I first cut the arm off and reattached it.  With v2 I got everything nicer with no manifold error, except the hole is a smaller diameter at his back.   Can see some cracks open within hole still, but v2 printed good.  Didn't try v1.

https://www.mediafir...Magnum.zip/file

6Mz0YIM.png

I also have some other variations such as normal #27 just with mold peg holes all patched up nice and another variation of that with both arms raised, and intermediate versions between that and the practically finished Magnum V2.  Here's a zip of the patched up normal one and variation with both arms up.

https://www.mediafir...atched.zip/file

7VqjpWe.png

Yeah, I patched over the Y/S N but not like it was very legible anyway.

UPDATE: Printed SunshineMagnum v2 rather successfully but had to drill out the hole which was filled with supports.   Details in txt file.   Made a decent print of Spinning Head Ashuraman with recommended settings from a friend.   I only had to glue half of one hand back together and otherwise the arms all formed right.   It's 10% infill rather than 100% though so it feels really cheap and light.   There's also a small odd hole in his back making a gap in his belt and it goes through to bottom of the intended hole for the head peg.   Still the best print yet of Ashuraman who seems to be a real pain to print.  Will have to try again with 100% infill and otherwise same settings.

Beware the Stray Akuma Chojin Combo tag team!

Group pic of customs except I gave away my only print so far of Buffaloman with a single bazooka as a gift.

Thanks everyone for the links. Planning on having some unrelated stuff 3D printed and going to add one or two M.U.S.C.L.E. or customs to make up the minimum order. :)

If anyone ever makes a scan of #151 Candelaman / Kanderaman that would be amazing

Updated SpinningHeadAhuraman to v5.   Plugged a small hole in back of his belt.  Slicing still revealed it in v4.   Put v1 back in zip which didn't have that hole.   So zip contains v1 and v5.

https://www.mediafir...aman27.zip/file

Here's a couple alternate heads with 2-3 faces replaced with better detail oni faces (including a Guy Fawkes Oni mask)

They don't print as they appear down at such a scale but some seem to be an improvement over the previous softness or lack of detail in model.

This is a much bigger download due to initial detail so I made it separate.

If you look above at my previous post, you'll see I updated my Halloween Jack-O-MUSCLE substantially.   Same download link is updated.

I had another failed print of Spinning Head of Ashuraman with a couple hands messed up.   I usually do 100% infill to make them totally solid.   A 10% infill one turned out the best but it feels so cheap and light.   I'm going to try 80% infill and see what happens.   Might give them more flexibility and make them less rigid, although I'm not going to try purposely flexing anything.   While I had all four hands replaced on the Jack-O-MUSCLE, I mistakenly printed the earlier version with only one replaced.  It printed great but was a pain getting supports out of his eyes and head.   Though it was much harder than doing so, it vaguely resembled pulling the guts out of a real pumpkin.  Changing x/y distance of support from 0.6 to 1.0 I had two arms fail on my print of the finished beast.   Tried again at 0.8 and aborted when I saw the lowest drill hand screwing up again.  Going to try again at 0.7 and 80% infill.   If that doesn't work good, I'm going back to 0.6 for that support setting.

EDIT: Ashura is V5 now.

Successful print of Jack-O-MUSCLE beast with 80% infill and automatic supports set to 0.7 x/y distance like I last said, and Ashuraman with alternate head:

Posted almost all my custom models to Thingiverse now.

UPDATE: I replaced the two alternate Ashura Heads with three different sizes of just one good alternate head with the faces that turn out best printed at that scale.

The old Ashuraheads.zip I uploaded to mediafire still has the two old alternate heads and has not been updated.   I recommend the medium size of the new one on thingiverse.

I also put together some pretty cool presentation for all my uploads.

I added to my previous edited post:

Chojin Blood Oath Brigade Buffaloman or LoD Armor Terri-Bull (#235)

Got some stuff 3D printed the other week so I added him and a couple of bootlegs to fill out the minimum order :) Came out pretty nice, need to get a scalpel out and tidy up some bits

That Buffaloman would have came out smoother and crisper with PLA Pro+.   Seems whoever used rather standard PLA.   The roll of filament acquiring humidity also results in extra frosting.   One of my friends will put a roll in a dehydrator at 140 degree Fahrenheit for about 8 hours to help that.

One on left is standard Creality PLA.   Two olive green ones are 3D Fuel PLA Pro+.   Unfortunately the models scanned from the original figures just don't have the detail as crisp to start with and you can only print as good as the model is.

Examples of the detail capable when the model is really good.   And I'm using a 0.3mm nozzle rather than the usual 0.4.

Damn I wish I took a better picture before giving these as a gift.

More I gave as gifts.   Yes, I put Santa hats on Meat.   I also put one on the Kinnikuman with a short cape (not currently shown here) and printed him at 110% scale since I always thought they made that sculpt undersized.

In other news, someone else uploaded more MUSCLE models.   For sale but very cheap.  Two that others already did and four more.

The Buffaloman in jacket is supposed to have two good horns.   I'm guessing he only had this one and cut the one horn as a kid to make it like another he wanted.

https://cults3d.com/...gure-kinnikuman 114 Pandaman

https://cults3d.com/...gure-kinnikuman 157 Black King

https://cults3d.com/...gure-kinnikuman 203 Cannonballer

The two that were already done but he gives you both .stl and .obj versions if that means anything to anyone.   Edgrivas already made these two available for free though.

I bought them anyway to show support and because they're so cheap.

https://cults3d.com/...gure-kinnikuman 34 Sawkillerman

I've downloaded/bought every M.U.S.C.L.E model I could find so far, except for some redundant copies.

So the models I currently have are 81 of the 236  + 2 imitation of SuperRares:

1-60, 77, 82, 96, 99,
105, 114, 119, 122, 141(imitation), 149, 153, 157, 178, 189, 193, 194,
203, 219, 222, 235, 236
My custom imitations "Black Hole" Sunshine Magnum and Spinning Head Ashuraman #27A and other customs.
Thinking of seeing if I can add some detail to Gamecube character models for printing.   So I have all them too but they're low poly and depended on their textures for most detail.   Checkmate might make a decent print as is.

Something I unfortunately missed are the Lucha MUSCLE on cgtrader which have disappeared.   The official Lucha organization probably noticed them and I doubt they were licensed merch.   Did anyone get them while they were available?  They still show up in this search:
$15 seemed a bit much for the three looking so similar to each other but I wish I grabbed them when they were on sale down at $7.50.
At least I have my six Super7 ones that are all more varied and some of the better work Super7 did, more in proportion to original MUSCLE without the big head style I find annoying.

Also this search yields some more MUSLE style Keshi, specifically the Keshi Verse ones.

Yeah I just chose the cheapest material :)

the Claw was done with a flexible material and actually came quite close to M.U.S.C.L.E consistency, slightly harder if anything. I'd like to try again but get them to do it with more air gaps inside (I forget the 3d printing terminology for that right now)
