Well, i'll cop to being a *little* lazy. SoulCalibur IV came out recently and all...so i can get stuff done during the day, but the second the wife gets home it's battle time.

to help start things up, here's my pencils on my first for this contest: hawkman (m.u.s.c.l.e.) as the main charachter (on the cover of) Legendary Wings for the NES.

the 2 issues keeping me from painting this:

What is Hawkman's color scheme,

Who is his opponent, so I know who's face to put in the bottom right

Well done man, i congratulate you on your obscurity. I remember when i was a kid i always wanted to play Legendary Wings. I thought it looked so cool.

Then as an adult when i began amassing a big NES collection, i was of course excited to obtain and play Legendary Wings. Man, it was a lot harder than i expected. Capcom games are usually fairly easy, but that one crushed my spirit.

good concept reccoom kaboom. reminds me of the old school comic crossovers. i might as well spill the beans on my idea. i've got nemesis vs gheos. so far i'm just doing practice sketches of the characters. nothing worth scanning and posting yet. needless to say, nemesis is kicking me arse. can't decide if i need to scale down the detail on nemesis or increase the detail on gheos.

Thanks for the color ref, URS. the colors were what I was hoping for, except for the armor: the background color for legendary wings is almost the same blue tone. Maybe use those as player 2 colors, and go with the wings cover color scheme for player one and this parody cover. If I can get to it, I'll try and do a sidescrolling gamescreen w/ the 2 versions of hawkman.

Eric: Capcom made ghosts n' goblins, Strider, and Bionic Commando. how can you be at a loss? You'd rock any one of those.

Scumdogg: Beat Legendary twice. Once as a kid, once when I bought it again recently. the trick is not to lose those weapon-ups. lose those, and might as well start over.

Where is everyone else? this one ends this month...

oh i know, im a huge capcom fan... just for some reason i cant think of something "worthy" enough. i have idea's, but i need to pull something great out of my magician's hat this time... i feel like im letting you guys down by not giving it my all. i need to start finishing somethings... as some others have pointed out.

hell, i think everyone should enter no matter what. imagine having like 50 entries or more. i'd have to buy a hundred sided die.

Okay, here's my entry for this month. Since any LRG line is fair game, I decided to go with Z.O.M.B.I.E.s! School Boy, School Girl, and Ape try to quench their thirst for flesh with Megaman and Ryu.

I used colored pencil again. I wasn't all that pleased with how Bigfoot turned out last month, so I wanted another go at them.

I finally finished the legendary wings/ hawkman-kinnikuman mash-up, and am really happy with its final look:

all the coloring, except for the capcom block and highlights, was done with rapidiograph inks, painted like rough watercolors. those are the same inks I used for the titans in my entry for the beastformers re-animated challenge a few months back. The capcom and highlights were sharpie poster paint pens, and the stained glass linework was a sharpie extra fine point.

that's a great picture. i reminds me of the style of artist david flores. which, coincidentally i was trying to duplicate for my fac 13 entry. nice work.
