Hi all, just found my first packs of Handful of Heroes Wave 2 at Toys R' Us this evening, and was finally able to find out just how different the colors of the repeat sculpts were. I am posting some pictures below of a few comparisons to help document some of the differences in the sets. Apologies in advance for the poor picture quality, our digital camera is MIA and all I had handy was my iphone. I think you should still be able to pick out the general differences in the figures though.

Anyway, here we go! First up is a pair of shots of the Thing...solids then glitters, with wave 1 on the left and wave 2 on the right:

Next we have a shot of the Black/Purple figures, with solid war machines and then clear black panthers:

Solid Doc Ock, Wave 1 on the left, 2 on the right:

Glitter Mandarins, once again with wave 1 on the left and 2 on the right:

Clear blue spideys, same format:

And now, for the gold and silver figures, which are making a return in wave 2 as well....they are probably the figures with the smallest difference in color. The pictures won't show it very well, but the wave 2 silvers (on the right) are a bit darker, which brings out the details a bit better in my opinion...and the new golds are as well, they almost have a slightly greenish tint, but are VERY similar to the wave 1 golds.

Nice! Although I'm not too thrilled about these light variations, it does give us a little more to fill up on in this otherwise half empty wave.

I really dig the Purples though!

@jharrop: Sure thing, a pic of the checklist for wave 2 has been posted in this thread if you want to go look at the figures from this series: http://www.littlerub...showtopic=29178

So I went back for 2 more packs this morning, and after my first 8 packs here is the breakdown that I got:

18 solid figures
18 clear figures
28 glitter figures

old sculpts: 29
new sculpts: 35

Duplicates: 8

As far as the highlights/lowlights of wave 2 go, the Professor Hulk figure is just massive, and a great addition! Sadly the other hulk figures in the first row aren't so great in comparison. The purple versions of the old black sculpts are really cool in the solid figures, but their clear and glitter versions are extremely close to being the same color as the lavender figures with Thor, Surfer, etc.

The checklist insert is probably the most misleading regarding the second row of hulk figures (world war hulks, etc.) It shows them in an almost teal color, but in reality, these figures are a dark olive green in their solid sculpts, and a very dark green in the clear and glitter versions as well. The orange figures in the third row are probably my favorite in the set as far as color goes, the orange is vibrant in all three variations, with the solids looking especially great! The onslaught figure is fantastic, and definitely one of the best in the set.

In the last of the new sculpts in the final row, the lavender figures are all pretty solid, with the Colossus and Surfer figures being my favorite of the four. The final four figures are action poses of Spidey and Iron Man, and these along with the Professor Hulk and Onslaught figures are by far the best in this new wave. The Spidey on the gargoyle and the Iron Man where he looks like he just landed and broke some pavement are definitely going up on my desk!

Anyway, thats it for my first impressions of wave 2. All told, these little guys are still a blast to bring home, and I'm really hoping this wave does well enough to warrant a third and beyond. I'll be posting doubles for trade in the trade thread, so check them out and drop me a line if you ever want to trade some of these guys.

I finally saw some of these at my local TRU yesterday. Saw an interesting Spider-man on a bird-head/gargoyle type of outcropping.

That Spidey looks okay, but toys like that are essentially pointless. They've got no play value!

I'm just hoping to get a wave 3 before they decide to quit.

I still want a Kang, a Bullseye, and a Skaar...

Deadpool is indeed in a set. If you run into great difficulty procuring one, send me a PM, and I'll get one to you.

Deadpool also happens to be one of the better sculpts in the line I think.

Well, Universal Ruler Supreme made a scan of the poster for Series 1, which has Deadpool on it: scan.
I think someone did a scan of the Series 2 poster too, but I can't seem to find it at the moment..
