Ok, So I have been very intrigued by these lines since I first found out about them. Here are 2 previous threads discussing the lines for some background

http://www.littlerub...showtopic=54010

http://www.littlerub...showtopic=47423

They are so similar but so different and the plot thickened once I found that I had a few other figures that weren't in either set!

Below is my current full collection. The top row is all Blackstar, middle row are my mystery figures, bottom row is Space Ace. Ships are Space Ace too.

Space Ace and Blackstar were both made by Larami in the early 80's.

Another pic shows the same torso on all three lines with little changes made.

If you look at the colors, you can see that all 3 lines have the same orange, but Blackstar has a second brighter orange as well.

In the pic with the greens.... no two are the same. No idea whats happening here.

Blackstar have the filmation writing on the back, but you can see that the mystery figures have that writing wiped off but still visible in the sculpt.

There are still more questions I have based on what I have seen. Like what is up with the flesh space ace? He is softer than the rest. The image on the Blackstar bag shows another color... Do those exist?

I have 2 Blackstar doubles and 1 extra space ace to trade if anyone is interested too.

Help me figure this out!

Post if you have any so I can continue to learn!

Pretty sure most people only have a passing interest in this series at best, but I'm super excited about my growing collection.

I managed to land a pack of the space ace figs on the card! Still can't believe I found it! Now to find a blackstar set.....

Still have some unexplained figures too....

Top two in the space ace figs are softer and both unique colors. The flesh one says 'CHINA' on the back and every other one says 'HONG KONG'

The top 4 figs in the blackstar pic have different heads and are unique colors. Still can't find any info on these guys!

Please let me know if you have any of the figs I am missing. I'm also looking to replace damaged ones!

How in the world are you pulling this off? You have such an amazing collection of these. It's like pulling teeth to find any on my end. I would love to nab those duplicates off of you if your willing. I'm sure we can come up with something to trade for.

I have a few duplicate space ace if that would help! I'll PM you!

interesting! are there any markings on the back of the owl barbarian? If its Sungold, I might have an idea what its from.

I never knew that space ace was as popular as it was. Usually, arcade properties didn't get this level of treatment.

Slowly! Only twice have I seen them on ebay under the proper name, so it takes some time, dig bins at toy shows have worked out well for me too.

They say 'CHINA' on the back. Please, if you have any idea let me know! I have spent more time scouring the internet for them than I would like to admit....

Space Ace and Blackstar were both made by Larami, so maybe the other figs were as well?

drat. the design of the chest harness reminds me of galaxy warriors from sungold, but its not made by even the correct country. the bracers and the furry crotch piece and belt are also rather similar. sadly, that's all I've got. speculation. though He-man knockoffs might be a good place to start looking for info. An interesting not on the owl barbarian. it uses the exact same body as the orange tiger guy (tongo, I think) next to him, so maybe its a Frankenstein.

Yeah, both series use the same bodies, and so do the 4 bootlegs I have.

Blackstar came first because on the owl bootlegs you can still see some of the original backing from the blackstar guys saying 'filmation' partially scraped off.

I think they were before space ace too because they are higher quality, and the sculpts are actually based on the cartoon as opposed to space ace which has nothing to do with the game.
