I've been looking for info on some little figures I remember getting out of quarter machines when I was younger, maybe around 89-91. They were monotone, usually like a mustard yellow or a dark green, shaped like cans of soup. Yes, I know, but I'm actually not crazy... or so I'm told. Anyway, they were shaped like cans of soup or peas or corn, stuff like that and they had robotic looking heads, arms and legs. They also held weapons, the only one I can remember clearly was one that held a spiked chain. They had hollow backs and stickers on the front that had some canned produce image on it like corn, or peas or whatever.

Anyway, I know I have some back at my parents house in my old toybox... theyre still bugging me to come get it... when I do, I'll post some pictures if it will help identify these little buggers.

I also remember getting figs of dogs dressed in army clothes that came in little grenades that were also in quarter machines.

Any info would help.

Thanks,

Those canned veggie figures actually sound cool.It would be funny to
have them in some sort of brawl and whoever wins is the side dish
CHAMPION

I would really like to see pics.
Hope you find them.

It's hard to find information on gumball collectibles. These kind of sound familiar. I can even see these things in my mind. But from the description and the date, I'd say that these were probably a reaction to Mattel's "Food Fighters" series. I remember I used to get my Food Fighters from Toy's R us and It makes me think of something I may have seen in one of their gumball machines. Hope you can get some pics of these.

Myself as well. I can vividly see a knock off Campbells Soup style label on a figure and a figure with an ear of corn head.

Unfortunately im not sure if i saw them on this side of the border or not.....or when.

Depending on what my wife wants to do, I may go back home to see my parents for Easter. If I do, I'll definately bring all my old toys back with me and go through them. I may even find all my old M.U.S.C.L.E figures as well. If so perhaps I'll be posting some stuff to sell.

If all goes well, I'll have some pics of these things up by Monday. ::crosses fingers::

Found them!

This first one had a sticker for, if I remember correctly, some kind of cereal
Posted Image

These rounded ones had soup or canned veggie lables on them
Posted Image

Posted Image

This one clearly has some kind of asian writing on the horizontal stripes of his barbell weapon
Posted Image

This one fell prey to childhood magnifying glass torture
Posted Image

This is the only one whos sticker is still somewhat intact
Posted Image

The backs are cut out like this and the only thing printed on them is "HONG KONG" and its down inside the hollow part of the back
Posted Image

Anyway, there they are. Hope someone can recognize them.

Well, I don't recognize them, but they are freakin sweet! I think I remember some other things quite similar to them though. I wouldn't mind finding a box of these little guys!

I'd love to know what they are and if there are others with them. Not only that but I would love to be able to find more of them to own. I know there are a bunch more styles, maybe 5 or more, because I had them when I was a kid. But back then I didnt care about $.25 gumball machine figures and ended up chopping them up or burning them or whatnot.

Here are some pics of other toys I have sorted out and dont know what they are. Perhaps you guys can help me. First though, are the pictures of the dogs dressed up in army clothes that came out of gumball machines. They are thin plastic and hollow. I assume that they used molds and blew the plastic up from the inside to fill the mold and give them shape. They're pretty odd.

Here are the grenade style eggs they came in

These guys are some kind of rock transformers or something. They are dirty and have sand in them but they still transform.
Posted Image

Posted Image

This snake came with some kind of Hot Wheels or Matchbox Car and it folded up and fit inside of it. I think this one came with a van. I have no idea where the van is.

This dude came with a plastic floppy disk or motherboard that you could take apart and reassemble into a jet or something. The back of him looks like wiring and I think he fit on the motherboard and blended into it by turning him upside down or something.
Posted Image

Posted Image

These came in packs of 4. Thats all I can remember.
Posted Image

These are all made of heavy cast metal. Some kind of army toys.
Posted Image

These, I wanna say are Voltron figures.

Lemme know if you recognize any of these things.

Thanks
Chris

Anyone ever seen, 'Spinning Monster Tops' vending machine toys? I saw them on a site and they look sort of like "Spinjas."

I dont remember them but I'd love to see them. I actually found a bunch of Spinjas with all my old toys along with one of the little spinner machines. Also, thanks for the clearification TGB. Oh man, Mondo Blitzers. I knew the name was some kind of buzz-word type thing, I just couldnt put my finger on it.

The tanks and planes and such are from Mega Force by Kenner - I still have a V-Rocs Skorpion and Triax Strikemaster at my parents' house ;) Nice toyline - shame it didn't last.

Ahhh...Megaforce! Thank-you fourth_heir for jogging my memory. I have some of this toyline and could not remember what they were called. This was a great toyline that was another casualty of the 80's. Does anyone remember the awesome commercials of huge battlefields? Simply amazing!
