What music do you like that also includes some reference to figures that appeared
as part of the Monster in my Pocket line?
A couple of examples from me:
Septic Flesh - Annubis
Mastodon - Where Strides The Behemoth

The Metal genre has many tracks inspired by mythical monsters.
What music do you like that also includes some reference to figures that appeared
as part of the Monster in my Pocket line?
A couple of examples from me:
Septic Flesh - Annubis
Mastodon - Where Strides The Behemoth
Man, I really dig Mastodon. Don't forget their album Leviathan. Awesome stuff.

Bela Fleck & The Flecktones have a song called 'Bigfoot' which is pretty cool if you're into banjo-based prog (and who isn't?).
And what about 'The Invisible Man' by Queen?

Seabeast (my fav song of them) also the video is pretty awesome
There's a lot of metal bands named like monsters or myth creatures, like: Ghoul, Behemoth, Chimaira, there's also a mexican band called "here comes the kraken", you just need to do a little research

Entombed - Living Dead (symbolic anti-religion)
Back to more descriptive:
Cheesy as hell
Dragonforce - Where Dragon's Rule
Pure awesome

'Spring Heeled Jack' by Zombina and the Skeletones
He creeps through the alleys like a jungle cat
In a dirty black coat and a long top hat
From the rooftop, he watches the street
You'd better pray to God that you don't meet
That creepy old man, so watch your back-
For that mean motherf*cker named Spring-Heeled Jack!
He spits out fire and poison gas
He eats dead pigeons and sewer rats
He leaps tall buildings in a single bound
One look and he'll put you underground
You never know when he will attack-
'Cos he's a mean motherf*cker named Spring-Heeled Jack!
You all say that it's in the past,
And the jumping killer 'aint coming back.
Well you may be right and you may be wrong,
But I know he's never really gone
Can't you tell from the way I act-
That I was born from the blood of Spring-Heeled Jack?

I love this song, by a truly fantastic UK horror-punk band:
'Spring Heeled Jack' by Zombina and the Skeletones
Great band indeed, I discovered them listening to the Rue Morgue Radio podcast, which is a pretty good weekly fix of horror, monster and punk rock:
http://www.ruemorgueradio.com/
The Ray Harryhausen (the stop-motion animator from the Sinbad and dinosaur movie) special is a hoot of any fan of monster movies (see in the archives):

Also featured in here:

This whole show could go perfectly with the Kraken, Medusa (as in Clash of the Titans), the Cyclop (as in 7th voyage of Sinbad), Skeleton, Hydra (as in Jason and the Argonauts) and the T-Rex (as in Valley of Gwangi and 1 Million Years BC.)

The music that kicks in during the Skeleton scene in Jason and the argonauts
is chilling. There is an interesting point made about the use of an 'original score'.
It would be great if the remake of Clash of Titans follows this path.

Thanks for the Radio link, great to hear Ray Harryhausen! What a legend.

Yeah, that new one seems to be in the flavor of Lord of the Rings and Gladiator but it sure look fun. A Creature feature on the big screen is always a hot anyway. I had a blast watching Peter jackson's King Kong in theater. Movie screen are made to show such giant stars!
Back to music, the thme from the Blob and the Green Slime are fun piece of pop monster fun:
It could go on with either the Swamp monster or the Ectoplasmic ghost.
A proper blob / slime monster would have been great as well as a monster Ape in MIMP thinking of it.

MIMP is a line of "real monsters". MIMP does have a few fictional monsters in Series 1-4, but they're rare anomalies.
For any toy-line which does include fictional monsters, though, I'd definitely think that King Kong would be near the top of the list.
I received my Ectoplasmic ghost yesterday and he stand in for a great Blob type slime monster, so I stand corrected. In the slimy wake of the blob they're been a lot of imitator and other goey foes, enough to make it a archetypal type of monster: Caltiki, The H-Man, X the Unknown, The Incredible Metlting Man, etc.
And indeed MIMP aimed at more traditionnal monster from folk tales and litterature that are in the public domain. Giant or killer ape are an archetypal monster in the 1930's, but maybe it was a bit out of fashion for the 1990's crowd. In any case, it's not like they left many monster out of the list.
To ad a soudbytes to the list (it's not music but anyway), here a great interview with the late Dick Durock, who played Swamp Thing in the movies and the TV series. Great to hear from a guy who made a living playing rubber monster and do stunts:
