Dear LRG Community,

As of today I just completed my 246 M.U.S.C.L.E Mattel basic flesh set (this includes the Satan Cross, Board Game figures & Ring Figures).

My gateway drug into Kinnikuman collecting was purchasing the DVD/Kinkeshi reissue set last year + a trip to Japan.

I then decided to do my research and remembered the Mattel line from when I was a kid.

Thus the madness began!

It was a great feeling getting that last #153 Claw in the mail today!

The last 46 figures I acquired/needed was due to the help of the LRG community.

So new collectors once you get to that point of missing those last few figures just ask!

I will admit I am not the most patient person when it comes to waiting to find those missing figures I needed (to each his own); so I got them when I found them etc

It took me almost 1 year to complete my set (7 months to be more accurate since I took a break from actively searching because I was consumed by trying to complete my Kinnikuman Deka collection).

It didn’t cost more than a grand to complete my set but it was definitely not less than $500; It was around $800.

I am not sure if that’s standard but I ended up buying giant lots; what killed me was the international shipping from the U.S to Germany or Canada to Germany, otherwise I think it would have been significantly less (probably $400-500).

I did get lucky in not having a lot of doubles and getting a Satan Cross in a lot.

I have a total of about 90 Flesh doubles + some colors which I placed in 8 empty M.U.S.C.L.E trash cans; so they have not gone to waste!

The left over 10 Flesh figures I traded more or less (the color doubles I will in time also put up for trade)

I dream of a master set but am not holding my breath (I did acquire a lot of colors though in those lots).

For now I will try to collect the next colors one at a time starting with Magenta (missing about 135).

I get distracted with the Japanese Kinkeshi line and in general vintage kinnikuman stuff.

In case anyone is wondering I use nail polish acrylic stands for my collection (you can probably find them on ebay or a nail salon).

The stair cases come in different widths and heights (I prefer the 5 rows and often buy the 46 cm in width and 22 to 23 cm in width stands; it all depends on the length of your shelves etc).

They are a life saver when it comes to optimizing space! The 2 biggest enemies of any collector are space & money.

So far a very rewarding and fun collecting experience!

Another big thank you to the LRG community!

In particular Onetallponderosa & Kinnihuman who helped me out tremendously in completing 2 mixed 246 sets! Both sets include board game figures, muscle ring figures & Satan Cross.

If only flesh figures counted as a part of a set along with colors (wink wink) ;) instead of just colors (any info on when that rule was established? of course it would benefit me in claiming a set if that was changed so full disclosure haha)

I want to complete 10 sets total in any color/flesh combination as long as its the 246 (that keeps the Mattel Muscle line fresh for me).

Right now I have a 4th & 5th set in the works...

I am taking a break until next year and focusing on the vintage kinkeshi Japanese line in the meanwhile.

Here is a pic of all 3 sets on display :D (1 flesh & 2 mixed): A total of 738 figures

Set 2

Set 2 is almost entirely a colored set (I have 17 Flesh figures in the 246 set besides the flesh Satan Cross and 2 Muscle Ring figs).

I replaced a flesh figure with a colored sculpt when possible and will continue to do so when I bump into them.

I would of course want them all in color but claws in any color besides flesh are pricy!

so am taking my time :D

Set 3

Set 3 is more mixed in with Flesh figures and colored ones (I have 64 Flesh figures in the 246 set besides the flesh Satan Cross and 2 Muscle Ring figs).

If possible I want them to be even (like 121 flesh and 125 color etc) but am happy just to have another 246 set.
