If this image is any indication, the Muhammad figure would have been the best!

I think if they made a giant box and wrote censored on it, we would all buy it knowing it was mohammed lol

Is it wrong that I like pissing off sensitive people?

Probably, but it is too much fun

I lost all forms of sensitivity when I was exposed to shows like Futurama, South Park, Frisky Dingo, etc. I found these things extremely hilarious. Usually an over sensitivity case is caused by lack of understanding of the given medium.

Or a lack of sense of humor is often the case. It's always ok to make fun of stuff until it is something they care about. Then you are pure evil and heartless.

Sounds good to me. Wonder if there was a Star Monster made in both regular and neon colors? It was on both boxes, so I suspect it was

I think that if more sites had info about about the star monsters more would turn up. I found the star monster thread by accident and once I started searching google the only site that mentions it (http://www.raumhafen.de/

looks pretty out of date. Only if you look on the forums do you see people talking about them so only the collectors are in the know. One box in 10,000 seems like a lot, but it isn't really when you consider the entire distribution of these figures in all countries and regions.  I think it's safe to assume that the rest of these figures are owned by people who don't know their value. In truth, I almost sold the star troll in a lot of figures for next to nothing. I was going to swap it out for a yellow one I bought in a lot, but it was a little dirty so I just kept the purple one.

This is a bit of a random/long-shot idea, but I remember seeing 'listings' on eBay from time to time, where people were asking for items, rather than selling items. One in particular that I remember was a woman who was after particular Match Attax cards for her son. The listing was never pulled as I 'watched' it out of interest. My point is, I wonder if an 'advert' via eBay calling for people to check their Jotun Trolls for stars would possibly uncover further figures. Obviously it could (and probably would) uncover a bunch of a$$holes trying to claim they had one rather uncover more than star monsters, but you never know. Just an idea.

I think it would work, but the downside is that they are going to ask for a ridiculous amount for each figure found that a collector could have won in auction for a couple dollars. Bigburty, you had mentioned before that the purple troll comes in a specific 12 monster box. What is the 25 point neon monster that it comes with? Maybe those unopened boxes have a few.

I think we probably don't want to encourage anyone to circumvent eBay rules on this forum, cheers.

I remember years ago ebay had a "want it now" section, where they encouraged people to post what the wanted, but I don't think they do it anymore. Even if they did I doubt hardly anyone would look there.

I would think the most likely way we'll find another one is just whenever you see a Jotun Troll on ebay, request a photo of the back of the figure/s, if they don't have one already. Don't explain why you want it, or it might give someone the idea of faking it. Just say it's to check the condition or something

I believe he came with a Griffin as the 25 point monster. The WiFi here is too awful for me to look around and check, but I think that's what Jotun Troll came with in the 12 packs.

Just noticed on the back of my UK 12-pack that it states the 'secret monster' will have a star INSTEAD of a number. The Raumhafen example doesn't explain that as clearly, rather just stating it will have a star on the back. I just find it strange that the UK package would clearly state that the points value will be replaced by the star, rather than have the star around the points value.

I always assumed it would be a figure with a star and no points value.

It's exactly the same for french boxes, "un monstre spécial qui a une étoile imprimée sur son dos au lieu d'une valeur de points."

Read what it says, the wording is ambiguous:

a special star branded on it's back instead of the usual points value

Nothing there states it won't have any points value, just that it won't have the usual (circular) points value.

I interpeet it as meaning it would have a star in the place of the points value. Also interesting how one advert shows the silhouette of a non-MIMP shaped creature; the South African one shows a Jotun Troll. Makes me wonder why the Matchbox version didn't show the JT silhouette too.

Sorry to disappoint haha. I'm guessing that not a lot of thought went into the design of the star figures as Matchbox intended to reclaim them again anyway. I believe the silhouette was a cartoon version of the troll, because how many figures have a point circle directly center on the back that have a humanoid shape?

Yeh there was probably a box full of star monsters lying around at head office after all the kids had sent them in to claim their $50 worth of MIMP.
