Hey guys,

More stuff...

This is a pair of Star Wars figures from Kellogg's cereal that were mail away premiums from the 90's I believe. One is Han Solo in Stormtrooper gear, and the other is the ghostly Obi Wan from the end of Return Of The Jedi. Both are BRAND NEW , never opened and still sealed in the plastic and come with their original box that they were mailed in.

I used to be a real sucker for mail away cereal premiums!!

Both figures as a set $9.75 and FREE S&H!

Thanks for looking,

PF

BTW - I do have a second pair of the same figures if one is interested and if you wanted all four figures I will be happy to discount them even further.

The Obi Wan was a Lay's potato chips premium... you had to save up proof of purchases to get him.  I had both of these back in the way backs.  :D

I recently traded or sold off my entire SW collection, but I kept the ghostly Obiwan as I had kept him in the little box he came in with my childhood address listed on it. So that was cool to find.

I remember specifically that the Han Solo was a Froot Loops mailaway, and I thought that the Obiwan was as well? I definitely don't remember him coming from Lays promotion (though that link shows that obviously this was one source). Maybe it was available through other products as well? Or maybe my memories aren't as accurate as it should be ;)

I only remembered it being a Lay's mail away - after Monsterforge pointed it out.  Otherwise I thought it was one of the other Kellogg's cereals (Applejacks maybe lol).  ANYhow - I stand corrected.  And now that it's been brought up - seem to remember those Lay's pizza chips really sucked.

I have Han Solo, Ghost of Kenobi, and the Cantina Band figure.  Not sure if the last one was part of the cereal mail away though.

I actually have all of the first five.
It's still the best likeness of Sam Jackson in that scale.

A later exclusive they did was a vintage rocket firing Fett. The original Boba Fett from 1980 was supposed to shoot a rocket but because of a kid who choked to death on a rocket from a Battlestar Galactica toy, Kenner got paranoid and scrapped the feature, and sent an apology letter to kids explaining the change. The case eventually led to laws that said toy projectiles had to be 2 inches long, which is why all the Transformers reissues had to have long missiles or non functional launchers.

A couple years ago, however, Hasbro did a mailaway for a vintage style rocket Fett. The projectile was the required 2 inches, but the figure looked just like the vintage one.

I wouldn't mind the vintage style mailaway Rocket Fett, though he's my least favorite character in the whole saga.

So... I got the ghost and han. How do I tell if these are from this? Or were these released with the kenner line too?

If you have the ghost and it's clear blue (no paint) it is the mailaway.

It was later reissued in a three pack with Yoda and Anakin as ghosts, but it had a white paint application.

Han also was reissued in a three pack. With Luke in trooper disguise, and Chewie. The mailaway has a bent right arm.

If you have pics I can ID them.
