Man, we are all entirely too much on the same wavelength. B) To combat the fact that there are now two Cthulhus, as stated previously i decided to do a different entry. Last night i started a Bigfoot one. Glad i didn't get past the sketch stage. ;)

Oh well, back to the drawing board. I've still got a couple days, right?

By the way though, that's awesome. Some stiff competition this time around for sure. :)

I considered Tiamat, but couldn't come up with something i was happy with. Your Tiamat is rockin' by the way, Kevin! Besides, there's already the Skull Grotess LB, so i wasn't really that into doing another dragon.

I also considered a Griffin, but then there was your custom Griffin, WhiteLeo. It was awesome and i didn't want to look like i was ripping it off. I'd be happy to draw it for you at some point though. :)

I have something new in mind now, i'm starting the sketch on it tonight. I hope nobody beats me to it.

I kinda came close to a Griffin with this one.
Lower right corner is a Lammasu or an Androsphynx or something.
Can't really remember now. It's been 6 years.

Thanks for the compliments everybody. I also did a Cthulhu.

this started off as just a plotting sketch, but it demanded to be finished, and I obeyed. 3 hours total. the weapons and armor are supposed to give the impression of teeth and eyes.

It's a Cthulhu mythos creature from "At the Mountains of Madness". With Lovecraft, you generally only get one intentionally vague descriptive paragraph for any given creature. Here's Shoggoth's from the book which happens to be sitting next to me.

"It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway train – a shapeless congerie of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us, crushing the frantic penguins and slithering over the glistening floor that it and its kind had swept so evilly free of all litter."

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I was actually really disappointed with it, though. It was my first shot at colored pencils and I wasn't impressed with the results. But my wife showed me what I did wrong (basically I was just applying the color too lightly) and I think I improved it significantly. I also changed the color of the armor to green, which I think works much better with the Bigfoot theme. And I added some weathering to it, too.

And that's a pretty awesome drawing, Reccoom!

tortle, i think i love it even more now. the green armor just seems to fit so much more than the purple did. colored pencils can be tricky too. there's such a fine line between too little and too much that i try to avoid them. i think you did a fantastic job. this may be the greatest fac of all time. it'd be hard to screw this one up though with such an excellent topic.

Okay, i had this one in my head and wanted to get it down on paper. I did a few preliminary sketches and didn't like them, so i decided to just say the hell with it and bust something out comicon sketchbook style. So i dragged out my poor neglected sharpies and just went at it with very little pre-planning. Here's what came out, my Cerberus Battle Beast.
