Does anyone know what this is? I was curious as to if it is a comic or what.

Yes, this is going to be one of those "books" which are just a selection of Wikipedia articles bundled into book format.

It even says on the auction pic: "High Quality Content by Wikipedia articles".

Doubtless it's every bit as shitty as it sounds, but enough people must be fooled to make it a lucrative business.

Yeh those sort of books are literally just wikipedia articles printed and bound. Good for communities without internet/computers I guess but otherwise pretty useless.

"High quality" is a bit of an exaggeration though. Don't get me wrong, Wikipedia is an immensely useful resource, but for most topics it's only good for a general overview and many details must be taken with a rather large pinch of salt. There is a huge amount of inaccuracy on wikipedia and information gets very distorted via the "chinese whispers"* system of the internet (i.e. information being copied inaccurately), "too many cooks spoil the broth" editing issues (i.e. poor editors messing up the work of previous good editors) and the many, many editors who don't have the slightest understanding of research techniques or how to judge the reliability of sources.

*yes, "chinese whispers" is kind of a racist term I suppose, but that's the only term I know for that kid's game, so until someone comes up with another term that becomes well known enough, I will stick to calling it by the common name.

I'd presume any communities without internet or computers have higher priorities than collecting Monster in My Pocket figures.

One also wonders how said communities might be buying things off eBay in the first place, let alone obscure collector texts at extortionate prices.

I suppose what I'm saying is that you don't need any qualifiers: the book is just useless, full stop. It is a total scam, and most of the articles probably don't even refer to MIMP.

As hilarious as the concept of that book may be, I did not find any information on it at all. That's a shame. Maybe its good but someone here would have to take the risk and tell us lol

I might print up some of the articles I use, but paying $30 to have someone print them for me is pretty insane. Especially since I don't know which articles are in the book. Could be Pocket Monsters instead. That would really grind my gears

I'd hope nobody on this forum was stupid enough to waste $30 on something which is free to anyone with an internet connection.

Oh there is bound to be one lol there is always "THAT GUY" in every hobby sadly. And when he is dumb enough to buy it, we can only hope he is literate enough to share the insides of that shameful book. Maybe it will actually be helpful but thats probably saying to much lol
