I am from Hong Kong, so I was exposed to Kinnikuman before I moved to Canada.

Personally, I prefer the soft plastic used in Kinkeshi than the hard plastic with MUSCLE
Now, I am unsure why people say MUSCLE is better quality, I think they are both pretty
good quality, but i like the Kinkeshi soft plastic more, so I can make them lifting their arms,
slapping each other, or choking each other, or something. Plus I think the whole theme
of Kinkeshi is muscle/skin... so their color is like a skin tone kinda pink or flesh color, as
for MUSCLE, it's very dark pink.

When I first found MUSCLE, I gotta say Mattel did a pretty creative job bringing Kinkeshi
over. Love the ring, the belt and some color variants.

But they never had as much products as Kinnikuman.

This is a figure I kept since I was 4 or 5, and I always thought he was a badass looking
Kinnikuman because of the color... but later I found out it's a complete different character
when I was much older with internet. The toy is a hollow hard plastic figure, can't do much
to it, but I remember when I was a kid, the package of them is all colored, and I tried coloring
him with crayon. That was the 80s.

In between 5 to 9, I have been occupied with Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball and many other
anime stuff... When I was 10, around early 90s, I was moving to Canada, and I bought a lot of
toys around that period before I moved, and I clearly remember the day before I went on the plane,
I purchased two 4 inch figures...

I bought Kinnikuman & Robin Mask... and the whole night I had so much fun playing with them,
and looking at the cardback... I decided I must get another Warman & one of those cool looking
Kinnikuman variant before I leave on the plane. Next day I woke up, nd I sneaked out the house
to the toy store by myself... hoping to get the 2 figures to the plane ride... DAM that store, they
didnt open at around 11am!!! Actually if you guys do visit HK, a lot of toy store in certain areas
dun open till like 3pm... Anyway, fXXking disappointed back then, all I could do is looking into
the glass of the store, staring at those figures... and I went home, and I remember my mom was
pretty mad that I disappeared and the flight time was pretty close or something... so I left HK
with a little regret...

The two figures were with me for awhile (still have them in pretty good condition) but I have load
of other toys, and in no time, I was getting into the culture and buying X-Men and actually playing
hockey and skateboard and other stuff outside than playing with toys... I didn't get back into toys
until I was much older... and I didn't remember Kinnikuman until I found them when I was visiting
HK... then my friend lived in Japan helped me buy stuff from Yahoo.co.jp and man, found some
of the sweetest stuff...

Anyway, for me, Kinnikuman all the way, and you can check out my collection at this old old gallery

i voted m.u.s.c.l.e. because they were so unique to me as a kid. unlike most other toys at the time that had pre existing story lines, these did not and that allowed my imagination to run wild.

I prefer Kinnikuman over M.U.S.C.L.E. because of all the extra figures available. Same here :)400 figures is better then 200 :)

Mainly have Kinnikuman/MUSCLE stuff, but I also have some GI Joes and a custom painted MOBAT I found at a model show.

I have to go with MUSCLE, Even though it would have been a lot better to be able to have Painted reissues as well as normal Brocken Jr., Stecasse King, and even the Robe wearing Chibi figures

I prefer the hard rubber to the eraser rubber, as well as some other things such as MUSCLE having 9 colors while kinkeshi I think had mainly 5

Watching old anime as if it's in style, since whatever is trending nowadays just wouldn't suit me at all.

Well, it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I didn't even know M.U.S.C.L.E. because they were sold in my country as Kinnikuman related merchandise (well, in my country it's called Musculman, for the release LOL).
That being so, and knowing the series since they showed it on TV in my early living years, the vote goes for Kinnikuman.

Wow, a little late to this vote...12 years???

But...  I voted Kinnikuman BECAUSE I love Muscle so much.  First was kinnikuman in Japan which gave birth to Muscle in the states and blew my mind.  I still remember my mom saying "you always find the weirdest things".  But it never would've happened without the original.

and then learning more and more about Japan and all the cool old stuff that happened there when I was a kid in the U.S...  I found KINNIKUMAN!

As mysterious as MUSCLE was, Kinnikuman was more epic in history!  Put on the theme at karaoke, and every Japanese in the room will sing along.  Say the word "kinkeshi" and faces light up.   and to see random bizarre toys in Japan of Kinnikuman... wow, just wow.

So, as much as a love Muscle, I owe it all to Kinnikuman.  :)

M.U.S.C.L.E. Imagination fueled the joy of having them. But I respect and love discovering all the Japanese history.
