Mini pull-back monsters: two-headed dino/dragon, birdman

Best Answer bachamn , 12 July 2016 - 06:06 PM

very cool! yes these are THOR LORDS distributed by Creata Intl in the US, and Hales in UK. Sold in dollar stores in the early 80s. Maybe other places, but thats about all we know about these guys.

at first I had mistaken the one on the left there for another that I have, but it turns out these are both new to me!

here's my outdated thread on them if you're interested: http://www.littlerub...howtopic=181300

and here's a group shot of my "master set" (now apparently minus at least 2; there goes my "they made 6" theory...)

PM incoming

These have wheels on the bottom and are pull-back "cars", both with the same square black "motor" unit inside and a rubber monster on top. The birdman reminds me a lot of the Hindu deity Garuda and is 3" tall. Stamp on the bottom of both reads "Creata International Inc., 1982 Made in Macau". Anyone remember them or know more?

(Full disclosure: I am likely going to eBay these guys.)

I believe they are called "Thor Lords".

There is a member here, Bachamn, that collects these. He is a good dude, and would probably be interested in these, if he doesn't have them already.

Thanks a lot, both of you, especially bachamn! I'll reply on your other thread with what I remember about them (which isn't much), and will PM you back soon. Really surprised and impressed that anyone could put a name to these!

Love that garuda. Crazy how more designs from this ultra obscure line keep popping up. Maybe this is finally all of them, for a total of 8?

I hope to see bachamn end up with these -- the group shot needs to be updated with them!

fkro, I think that Garuda is pretty interesting too. Between him and a Thor Lord I saw in bachamn's collection, looks like some of these have some Hindu ideas going on.

dixiebull, thanks! Still contemplating eBay for these. I'll let you know if I do!
