You called it BaltanII!!! (Sorry, I can't figure out how to "tag" other users, and don't see anything about it under the "FAQ"  section)

Medicom Great Mystery Museum Series 3
Also think the figure was the special "mystery" chase character. Which explains why you don't see it in many of the series promotional lists.

Looks like it maybe even had a little base, which mine didn't come with (the shop was selling these things loose). Love this series, kinda want some of the other artifact looking figures.

Nearly positive this is from a Japanese Gashapon machine. I got it at a store in the US that was selling fun little Japanese toys. Years later, when I actually visited Tokyo, I searched through several stores that had WALLS of Gashapon (all categorized by theme) and found several "archeological" collections, but never found anything resembling this weird little buddy. There are no markings, which maybe is common with these tiny ephemeral things.

Anyway, just always been a favorite of mine, and I'm almost scared the mystique will be ruined if I find out what it is actually from. But, I'm giving it a shot anyway!

I can't help with an ID, but it kind of reminds me of the San Pedro Mountains Mummy.

Totally! That's a big factor of why I want to ID it. I swear I had actually seen an image of this mummy before finding the figure. Vaguely remember it being South American. But all my searches never came up with anything that matched it precisely. Tried searching bog people too. I'm guessing it was a little series of various mummified artifacts.

Can't confirm, but it does look like something out of one of the many UMA trading figure series out there.

I'll bet you're right. Both "Unidentified Mystery Animal" and "Great Mystery Museum" (Both from Medicom, sounds like?) lines look like they have all kind of fun stuff.

Thank you so much!

Knowing, definitely doesn't ruin the mystique. It actually lives up to the expectation!

the most recent series debuted at this year's Winter Wonder Fest. I have some pics!

Yes, in this case, finding out actually enhanced my experience with the figure! I think my fear is that usually I'll like a little monster or something and discover its just from some franchise I have no interest in knowing more about, and then can't dissociate the figure with the property its from. But, the fact this series literally *is* about strange oddities throughout the world, fits really well w/ what I hoped it was about. And I sure was lucky to find the "hidden" mystery figure by chance at this store. Even after seeing the rest, mine is still my favorite, though there are some others I sure would like to track down!

Thanks for sharing the images of the most recent wave! I love that they are ALL mummies! LOL

Wonder if anyone on this board collect these?

Rid definitely had some UMA stuff (you can obviously tell, you found his Kaiyodo UMA review), not sure about the Great Mystery Museum specificities but it’s in some members’ wheelhouse.
