I was attending a behavioral counseling conference this weekend (training people to counsel, not the reverse), and one of the speakers, a counselor/pastor for decades, went off on a side rant about the donkeypits who won't leave a tip, but leave a tract instead. Especially when they are from his church, at which point he practically disowns them.
He also gave the following tips:
1. If you are going to be rude to the server, make your tip 30% or more.
2. If you are going to leave a tract, forget the percentage entirely and just leave a huge tip. Also, be polite. If you want to influence people to your beliefs, don't be an asshat.
As for me? I smile to servers, thank them, act polite, and leave pretty big tips because I know how much their jobs suck.

My GF is a server at the Yardhouse, and omg she has so many stories that infuriate me. I don't know how she can do it, I would have been fired the first week from killing people. haha

Actually he said "fired from killing people" nor for so that would indicate he was more or less prepping the food. Maybe a butcher?

My mother is that kind of person. I do my very best to never go out to a restaurant with her. She can't understand why.
We're talking the stereotypical kind of person who demands constant service, even on busy nights, and complains loudly about almost everything.

My parents are kind of like this too, especially my mom. I've also noticed it a lot in other older relatives. I don't know if this is a generational thing, or something just comes with age. Luckily they all tip decently but the entitlement "customer is always right" without condition thing really seems to have stuck.

Yeah, my folks tip well, but are kind of particular. I don't get it. If I ask for "no pickles" and it comes with pickles... I remove the pickles. It's not that big of a deal. People are f*cking awful when it comes to their food... But will go to great lengths to not have to prepare a meal for themselves.

People just want something to complain about. Always complaining about something, rarely making an effort to read or understand.
