Gozilla

Best Answer BaltanII , 16 August 2015 - 01:23 PM

One of the easiest ways to tell whether you have a legit Imperial or a knockoff is the telltale lipstick. Imperial used a red to line the mouth that instead makes Godzilla look like he's dolling himself up for a night on the town. After that, yeah the absence of any trademarks would verify it's a KO as Imperial stamps all their toys.

The Godzilla in this thread is probably the unlicensed Dor Mei version.

Really cool!

Looks like a knockoff of the Imperial Godzilla.
The one from 1985.

You want to get rid of it?

It looks a little off to me.

Also, the Imperial Godzilla is clearly marked, on the foot.

I'll snap some photos of the feet but I couldn't make any out. It looks like the imperial one but without the markings and a little excess silver paint I think it is a good KO.

I'm not attached to it. I'd trade for some TMNT sidekicks, as far as $ I have no idea of the value. If anyone here has an idea please chirp in. It is super clean and articulates great.

I like it, as well, but Rubberhammer did request it first.

Yeah, I'm going with generic street merchant knockoff.  As for value?  Tough call; though it doesn't look old at all.  $5-$20?

So glad I hung onto my imperial godzilla from childhood, I almost threw it on eBay a few years ago. I'm pretty sure I used to have one that was larger as well but no longer have it

They are both cool and insane-looking.   Cheap, as well, thankfully.   Seems like Toys-R-Us had tons of the 8" versions up through the 90s at a few bucks each.

haha yeah I took a look at mine after my last post and immediately noticed this was the thing that looked off to me about this KO; no lipstick!

Wow, there was one of those lipstick-wearin' Gojis in my house for years and I never knew anything about it. My brother and I called him "Stunt-double Godzilla". I'm surprised (in a pleasant way) to find out what he is and that he's more or less official. Thanks collective board knowledge! I wonder if ours is still kicking around somewhere. Thank you

it's weird that the KO is so similar but the details are almost all different, looks like it was sculpted in likeness, not copied.

Anyway I just saw this pic on eBay; don't believe I've seen one with the tag attached before. pretty sweet :)

man now I'm wanting to get the 12 incher again.

Its not the size of the Gojira that matters.
Its how you abuse it..
