last week i've seen this photo in an auction, on a french website.

Attached File  trex jaune.jpg   54.77K   25 downloads

at first sight i've said : "OMG those t-rex are yellow !!"

But after a longer sighting i wondered "is that a light effect ? is this chimera red or neon red ? is this cockatrice light olive or neon green?". So I asked the seller a closer photo back and front of the t-rex.

Attached File  trex jaune2.jpg   29.93K   21 downloads

Attached File  trexjaune1.jpg   27.44K   14 downloads

and there they really look neon yellow.

I finally have bought the whole lot, and i've received it today... AND YES, they are yellow !!! :o

a new photo of the lot :

Attached File  DSCN9315.JPG   130.4K   19 downloads

closer photos of the Rexes, front and markings :

Attached File  DSCN9316.JPG   108.05K   22 downloads

Attached File  DSCN9317.JPG   62.03K   19 downloads

for the material, it's the exactly same as the classic ones :  they are not softer none harder.

Attached File  DSCN9318.JPG   53.24K   14 downloads

comparison with others :

Attached File  DSCN9319.JPG   101.13K   11 downloads

NY, yellow and orange premium

Attached File  DSCN9320.JPG   115.47K   10 downloads

italian yellow and yellow

Attached File  DSCN9321.JPG   128.4K   12 downloads

backs

So, what do you think about it ? in my opinion, they are legit, not customs, not repaints. Maybe testshoots ? i'll ask the seller if he has more infos.
Just realize when taking the photos that red karnak is not supposed to exist too !!!

Great discovery--congratulations on the find! Based on those photos, they appear to be totally legit.

Yes, an incredible discovery. Perhaps factory errors or test pulls that sneaked into the wild.

Awesome discovery! Quick question though: Is there any difference in the line/edge thickness around the base of the feet on the T-Rex, when compared to a regular Matchbox T-Rex? The reason I ask is it looks rather thick in the one picture and each of those three unusual MIMP that I found a while back have a care base ages then usual Matchbox MIMP.

Pic to show what I'm referring to:

That is fantastic! Congrats! Behemoth also found several that were not supposed to exist; one of which is now in my collection. I am a buyer if you ever want to sell; but I wouldn't blame you for keeping him.

@Burty : i'll try to get some photos of their feet tomorrow.

@Paul : you're right, i had forgotten those figures, just have re-read the topic. Mine are not from New Jersey, and all have point value. the seller answered me, he had bought them in a bakery in his childhood.

It is a fantastic find. It makes collecting exciting because you know that there is a possibility for more even though they are rare. Case in point. There have been two yellow harpy found and in your picture there are two yellow T-Rex; so there must be a rare source of these out there somewhere. Maybe a small batch that got through in the wrong color or some kind of promotion. What a fun mystery.

You're right Paul these are a fab find alright! :)

This also makes me wonder as to the origins of other Matchbox MIMP rarities. Take Red Kali and Yellow Catoblepas for instance, I've seen a fair few of those mixed in job lots of figures on eBay in the past. Maybe there was an alternate colour version of figures that were released with the Monster Clash game in other countries perhaps?

No appreciable difference there. Consistent with the idea that these were pressed when someone put the wrong mould in.
