So i got these in a bag of little green army guys at the thrift store tonight. One seems to be a dragon of some sort, and the other is a turtle. Both are meant to stand up, but the turtle isn't very good at it. They're hard plastic and completely unmarked by either date, brand, or country of origin. Possibly board game pieces? Any ideas?

I had to scan them because i couldn't get them to photograph well...

Wow, over 24 hours now and nothing? Is it a for serious mystery or does nobody care? I could see it going either way. I admit they're not the most exciting minis in the world, but i kinda like the turtle.

There really needs to be some sort of board game database where you can search for pieces by color, size, shape, etc, like yojoe.com does for GI Joe accessories. I don't know why, but i'm really leaning towards board game pieces on this one.

I looked, but really have no idea. They could be anything really. First things that came to mind were something like some toys kids could buy at the Zoo, or maybe sandbox kit figures. You know figures that came with a sand castle bucket and stuff. Dunno. I thought they were really nifty myself. I can't think of any board games they may belong to.

A picture to help determine scale might be helpful, I assumed they are about an inch high but a pic. next to a muscle or battle beast might spark somebodys memory

They are actually only about waist-high to your average M.U.S.C.L.E.

I think they're pretty cool little sculpts. The fact that they don't have any TMs does seem to indicate game pieces or companion figures to bigger action figures. However, if they were companion figures, I think someone would have recognized them, and they don't seem to fit with any fantasy/sci-fi or action lines. Could they be companions to a girls action figure line?

I think URS is on to something with the sand box toys angle, but they are flat on the bottom, so think they are meant to sit on a game board or at least be standing most of the time. I could see them being part of a Fisher Price zoo playset, but they are so small you'd think they might be swallowed. Little kid toys are usually bigger.

Yeah, that's the weird paradox here...they definitely seem too small to be toys meant for younger kids, but they look too cute to be companion figures to an action figure line. Unless of course they're to a girl's toy line, which i hadn't really thought of. That's definitely a possibility...
The flat bottoms on them is one of the things that made me think board game, but it'd have to be a game that wasn't using any sort of popular and established licensed characters, which would make it slightly odd that they bothered to mold nice plastic playing pieces in the first place. And the sculpts almost seem to have too much character to be just bucket toys.
At the very least i'm sure the two figures go together. The detailing on the scales is identical, and they're the exact same height...so that should in theory make it easier to figure out than just one loose figure. Sort of. :(

Maybe educational toys?

I remember in my earliest days of elementary school using these tiny hippo character figures for counting and various math exercises. Actually have a red one in our possession (I think) somewhere. These could be along the same line, and would explain the lack of identification marks.
