I need a little bit of help, or at least a little clarity.

We have 21 Super Rare figures.

Satan Cross (SC) - Part 21,
Spinning Head Ashurman (SHA) - Part 21
Black Hole Sunshine (BHS) - Part 21
Drunken Master (DM) - Part 15
Dark Emperor (DE) - Part 15

Satan Cross B - Part 22
Satan Cross C - Part 22
Satan Cross D - Part 24
Prism Man - Part 28
Mysterious Partner - Part 28
Terryman - Part 22
Ramen w/ Dragon - Part 22
Warsman w/ Spikes - Part 22
Buffalo w/ Bazooka - Part 28
Broken Jr. - Part 22
Robin Mask - Part 24

Dr. Bombay - Part 21
Geronimo (Red) - Part 13
Missileman (Blue) - Part 24
Robin Mask (Blue) - Part 24
Woolman (Blue) - Part 24

What parts and trees do these all come from (i.e., Part 11, Tree 1, Tree 13)? I was trying to figure it out, but I wanted to go to the masters for confirmation.

I’m thinking that your answers are going to solidify my SR theory.

Thanks for the help!

Check mid-way down the following page: MCIA: Non-Poster MUSCLEs

Unfortunately, we can't be 100% sure which trees each Non-Poster MUSCLE belongs too. This is because trees come in multiple sculpt numbers... some trees have 4 sculpts, some have 8, some have 10, etc.

All the Parts that the Non-Poster MUSCLEs belong to (I believe) consist of multiple trees -- therefore, we can't be sure which tree they belong too! (However, we can certainly make a guess for many of them.)

That's why URS and I want to find a Kinkeshi string from a part that has a Super Rare in it! If it is a Part that has two trees, we would know for sure then which tree the SR belonged to!

D'oh, URS replied whilst I was editing!

We can't place them within a specific tree within a part, due to the fact that we have no evidence as to how they were produced. We can guess at it, but thats really irrelevant data.

D'oh! Then you're not going to like our answer!

Hey, Arforbes, hurry up and find a keshi string from one of the "rare" parts, would ya!

Veers, I'll share my guesses later tonite when I'm home from work. (And I'll set it up in a way so you can make your own decision as well.) We should be able to make fairly educated guesses based on the average size of trees.

I’m starting to think that the figures aren’t errors, at least in the truest sense.

1/3 of the SR’s are from the normal line of figures (Parts 1-21). 2/3’s are from Parts past the “official” run.
Geronimo (Red) - Part 13

Drunken Master (DM) - Part 15
Dark Emperor (DE) - Part 15

Satan Cross (SC) - Part 21
Spinning Head Ashurman (SHA) - Part 21
Black Hole Sunshine (BHS) - Part 21
Dr. Bombay - Part 21

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Satan Cross B - Part 22
Satan Cross C - Part 22
Terryman - Part 22
Ramen w/ Dragon - Part 22
Warsman w/ Spikes - Part 22
Broken Jr. - Part 22

Satan Cross D - Part 24
Robin Mask - Part 24
Missileman (Blue) - Part 24
Robin Mask (Blue) - Part 24
Woolman (Blue) - Part 24

Prism Man - Part 28
Mysterious Partner - Part 28
Buffalo w/ Bazooka - Part 28

We’ve all seen the small picture of the poster with the 400 figure mock-up. What if Mattel was actually excited about MUSCLE?

We know that MUSCLE sold well its first year.
We know that the figures were manufactured in Japan.
We know that Mattel dumps everything but its core brands in 1987.

So what if the “errors” are really miscommunications?

Late 1985 – Let’s produce all the figures in Flesh
Early 1985 – Let’s produce half the figures
Late 1985 – Let’s add Red, Blue, and Purple
Early 1986 – Let’s add Orange, Green, Light Blue, Magenta, and Salmon
Late 1986 – Mattel will be dropping MUSCLE

Perhaps the SR’s are the result of Japan not getting their information fast enough, or even definitively enough? Remember it’s the mid-80’s, nobody’s getting any email.

I don’t know, I’m thinking out loud now.

Well, they had phones. :( But I think all of this has been speculated at one point or another. As far as the Rares that Jkaris found in the 28 pack, I always thought they were some sort of test sample produced for the guys in charge of the project. The rest of the SRs could have come from anywhere really. We may never really know.

Well, they had phones.

That doesn't mean the call was easy. Sometimes I have to make calls to Hong Kong and the timing sucks. I've put off calls by a day or two just to make my life easier. If someone at Mattel did the same thing, then production could easily be impacted.

True, but also keep in mind that just because the Rares belong to a certain part doesn't mean they had to also be on a tree with other figures from that part. As me and Soups have discovered it appears that some sculpts from one part were or could have been released prior or before that parts completion, thus meaning they could have been released with figures from previous or later parts other than itself. Did that make sense? :D

My guess is that's not the norm. Didn't Naochin have the figure that was released in this manner set apart as well?

We can still make ejumicated guesses... but they certainly will be just that, guesses.

Anyhoo, I'll have to share my guesses another night. Didn't have time tonite.

Thought you had them posted somewhere in the void of SuperRare Topics littering this board. Looks like you got some searching to do Veers! :D
