Really! You should post it here! So what is your economic assessment of Hasbro and Star Wars?

It was a dippy assignment, not even worth being in a college class (but it helps give me "free points," so to speak). you absically find a current event, and comment on it for a bit.

You know, I don't even need to beat the dead horse when Hasbro does it for me....

New Removable Helmet Vader

Of course, this one's DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT from the previous version! It will have a lightsaber throwing action... that won't work well and will throw the lightsaber approximately two inches. Sarcasm aside, there's also a new Snowtrooper that's the exact same concept as the original deluxe version.

I think this is what the SW line needs more of. Ideas that are fun, rather than movie accurate.

I agree that the emphasis should be on "fun". I loved those mini-rigs back in the day. They're small enough so that you can have fun with them, but their designs are close enough to the movies that they can look like Star Wars toys. But I doubt that collectors will go for toys that aren't based on designs from the movies or from the Expanded Universe materials, so oh well...

SLAP!

Why would they do this?

SLAP!

I don't know what they are thinking here? Let's think about this figure as a toy for a moment. Besides the figure being Darth Vader, what is the added play value of taking off his helmet?

Executive 1: “I know we could put out another version of Vader. And you could take of his helmet, again.”
Executive 2: “That’s great! I love it!”
Executive 3: “I don’t know? We’ve really already done this figure? Couldn’t we do something new?”
Executive 1: “We could give him an action feature.”
Executive 3: “GREAT! That’s the new kind of thinking we need!”
Executive 2: “He’s really good. How does he come up with this stuff?”

Seriously, what is the added play value? So kids can recreate the emotional moment of Luke’s final talk with his father as the Death Star is being attacked. Wow, fun! Even for collector, what’s new about this? The pose is a little different and it has an action feature, but so what?

This line needs some new life. Could Hasbro really be out of ideas?

Colemen Trebor looks pretty good...
http://starwars.hasb....cfm?showlg=222

The other 2 "new" figures look alright.

I like the base that Wedding Dress Padme comes with.

What do you think Tortle?

Coleman definitely looks pretty cool, and it looks like he has some good articulation. Hm... there might be knee articulation... and are those ball-in-socket joints for his shoulders? He's a relatively interesting alien, too. Maybe some Jango Fett blast effects would be cool. And I'd also like to see him come with a Jedi robe.

As for Amidala and Wat Tambor, they're pretty much the same ol' crap: action figures that would be interesting if you could actually move them, but you can't since they have plastic capes or a plastic robes. Whatever happened to soft goods?

Colemen looks nice. One of the better Jedi in AotC.

Who is Wat Tambor? I read the desription but where in the movie is he?

He was one of the Separatists. He’s most noticeable during the “evil” council meeting when his voice box gets kind of “feedbacky” while he is pledging his troops.

Oops I missed your post Tortle!

I agree that plastic is not the way to go. Soft goods kill the plastic versions. But as long as Hasbro keeps producing “statues” then they will keep using plastic. Why? Because they can’t get their soft goods to look good. Most specifically the Jedi robes from the accessory packs (horrible!) and Obi-Wan’s cape. Both of those looked really bad. But Padme’s wedding dress would have been too expensive, and looked terrible if it was soft goods. The dress was to light and sheer to be a soft good.

Actually, Coleman Trebor was the Jedi who got capped when he tried to take on Dooku and Fett.

That's right, but the question was, "Who is Wat Tambor? I read the desription but where in the movie is he?"

So what are the chances we see Durge and Ventress turned into figures?

What about the new "commando" Clone Troopers?

I think we'll get them, but it could turn out very strange. It will be "realistic" figures based on cartoons.
