Also, I do not ever use colour pencils. Ever. In fact, I didn't even know I had any colour pencils until yesterday. I only made this because I thought the contest looked a little empty, and I felt inadequate posting a quickie b/w drawing after everyone else's fancy colours, so I chose instead to post a quickie colour drawing. Please don't ridicule me.

for a quickie i think you did an awesome job. I love it. i'm scared to use colored pencils.

Well, to tell you the truth, I've been living in a cave, surviving by eating insects and pigeons.

Nah, really, I've been gone due to life's dramas and stupidity, and also my computer broke. It's still broken, but I'm using someone else's computer.

Thanks! I'm scared to use colour anything. I'm really not very good at it. Unless it's something easy to work with, or I'm doing the colour via the computer (and in that case it has to be pretty simple) I generally just avoid colours completely.

i think it's supposed to be like louis vuiton but instead is lou ftagn (ftagn being a name of cthulhu or something like that). if i'm wrong then i don't know what it is. but this is what i thought it meant.

You forgot the part that goes "Ia! Ia! Cthulhu! Fhtagn!".

The bit Eric said means something like;

In R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.

The Ia! part is probably 'Hey! Hey! Cthulhu dreams!' Fhtagn isn't part of his name. I thought you knew better, Dan!

Yeah my GPK's name is a shortened up "Cthulhu Fhtagn". I briefly considered "cthu LOU", but thought i'd go more obscure.

My wife didn't get it either.

nothing from me thanks. just couldn't get something to spark in my brain no matter how hard i tried. too much school work these past couple of months. damned plcs.

First, the four ideas I didn't go with:
kinniku BUSTER- Kinniku and rival as GPKs
Warsman as unzipped ZACK- Warsman unzipping helmet/costume, seeing cyborg face & neck
KATHYlu- Scumdogg already got this one.
compactTED- oddblock with a squashed GPK wrap-drawn on it, and a stretch perspective background base, so it looks like an optical illusion.

What I went with instead was a three-way mash-up between Garbage Pails, Weirdballs, and Muscles. The border, corner fly,pose and face are Weirdball Sludgehead. The costume is Muscle Ninja Ned. The proportions, coloring style(roughly), and name ribbon are later eighties GPK.
I started off on a 3x4 inch sketch, till I got the layout the way I wanted it. detail-wise, it was aready pretty done. Then I put this sketch under a projector, and blew the image up to 14"x17".

From there I put down light pencils, then white crayon for highlights before the base layer of watercolors and sharpies for gradiant. The crisp white inner border was done with a nerve-wracking painter's tape stuck down while adjacent areas were colored, then carefully peeling the tape up.

The mistakes that stand out are hands that are too small/not pudgy enough for GPK proportions and a chin that's not rounded enough. Other than that, I'm happy with the outcome.

Well, I can't expect any votes. All the other entries are too good, lol. I didn't really need to participate either, there was a rush of entries at the last minute. Here I was thinking "Oh no! ONLY 4 ENTRIES? That's no good, no good at all!" but now there's a ton.
