Does anyone know if/why there was a reason for the small gap in front of laserbeast orbs?

Or in ;)

Since the Orb is round (cylindrical) it´s hard to place the Orb inside, during assembly, in such a way that the Element/Symbol was in the correct position and not upside down or under an angle. For those who might´ve ever seen a loose Orb that´s been disconnected from the LB chest there´s clearly a little protuberance added onto the cylinder that forms the Orb and this piece fits perfectly within the small gap you´re referring to. So it´s actually a little guidance slot to ensure that the Orbs that´re pushed in during assembly would always show the Battle Element/Symbol (Fire, Wood, Water) in the correct upside position. I expect that the little added protuberance is also responsible for a certain internal ¨lock¨ that´ll prevent the Orb from coming out to easily.

Pretty well thought/constructed feature I´d say.

Decided to take a pic of a loose orb to show and support the theory shared in my previous post.

The little addition to the cylinder is clearly visible here and this is on the backside of the orb so the part that goes the deepest into the chest, the more rounded side is obviously the front side, the piece you´ll see within the chest, while the side with the symbol/element on it is the side you´re looking at when you peek through the little hole on the back of a LB. This also clearly shows that this addition is positioned on the bottom of the cylinder when you look at the symbol/element so with this addition sliding into the gap, which is always positioned on the bottom of the round extraction in the LB chest, the symbol/element is always shown in the correct position. It simply prevented Fires from burning upside down, a trunk of wood to be flipped and waves coming from the sky ;)
