Hi All !.It's Jeff at Kool Stuff Toys in Canada.I just joined the group today and I'm glad to be part of it.I recently found out about these great little guys and found Series 2 for $3.99 each 3 pack, through our newly opened TARGET store as well at clearance at Toys R Us for $1.98.Having had M.I.M.P.and M.U.S.C.L.E.S,BATTLE BEASTS and all kinds of kool 80's rubber figures,I just had to buy them.Since then,I've caught the bug and purchased through eBay,Series 2,3,4 and Christmas 3 packs and now the series 2,3,4 coffin packs as well as the poster.Judging by the looks of the art,it looks like the handy work of resfirma (thank you for that and all of the series posters posted here).I'd love the Christmas series by itself as well if you have a poster of that too for a download/ save.I'm looking forward to the Series 5 and 6 ones, especially the one with the S.L.U.G.Zombies Mascot-does he have a name and if not how about either Rottin' Ronnie or Lurkin' Larry,if they haven't been used yet. This was a reply I received from Alma at Jakk's Pacific when I recently inquired about Series 1 (which like most of you,I need as well-all 4 of the 3 packs and coffin pack).
Alma-There was actually only a limited amount of series 1 items made for the line. Whatever was made was shipped out to the stores listed below. However, once the items sold out no more were created. As far as the other series they were shipped to the stores below as well. My recommendation would be to try the stores I listed below. The company is considering re-releasing series one due to the high demand. If you have no luck at any of those stores you probably will not find the item until it is possibly re-released. I apologize for any inconvenience or dissatisfaction this may have caused. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me.

Target
Toys R Us
K-Mart
Amazon.com
Walgreens
Rite-Aid.I've checked online for all of these stores and there is no mention of S.L.U.G.Zombies in their searches, which leads me to believe that they've all gone to discount, which makes me wonder who will carry the proposed series 5 and 6 line?.As for Jakks thinking to re-release Series 1,please don't get me wrong,I (and many of you who don't already have them) would love nothing more to be able to get all of Series 1 at a reasonable price, but in fairness for those of you,who already have or are now paying $40 or more for a Series 1 3 pack and $70 or more for a series 1 coffin pack,I would be upset if Jakks was to just re-release them without any kind of running change in either the poses, colors, etc.I guess time will tell where the line will go,but if I'm just finding out about them here in Canada in 2013 (and everyone that I show my collection to,now wants them as well),the interest is there. But will there be a store that will carry them in the U.S or here Canada.I guess if it comes down to it,maybe I'll have to look into carrying them myself,if possible, just to insure my collection (and others, can be completed).Thank you all, continue to be a slave to the S.L.U.G. and Happy Rottin Collecting !.Jeff.

Welcome to the board. It's good to hear they are showing up in stores in Canada. I know there are a few Canadian board members that are trying to collect SLUGs.

I hope there is another release of series 1 at retail prices somewhere, and people that have already paid ebay prices shouldn't be upset if it happens. I've overpaid for a few sold out toys from other lines because I wasn't patient enough to get them at a more reasonable price later on. Paying a premium to have something right now is just part of collecting sometimes.

I got the exact same response months ago, except for this line:

The company is considering re-releasing series one due to the high demand.

So that's something.

Thank you very much!.I just sent another email off to Alma,so it will be interesting to see what Jakk's will be willing to tell us about the future of the line. This is the message I sent her-Hi again Alma,it's Jeff.I went through that list of stores that you had given me (thank you again),but the searches resulted in 0 items found, which leads me to believe that they must have all gone to discount.I managed to get the rest of mine off of eBay.So far,I've been able to locate all of Series 2,3,4 3 packs as well as Series 2,3,4 coffin packs.I read on a web site that there may be a Series 5 and 6 in production?.Are you able to confirm this and if so,would you know when the release date would be and who would carry them, either in the U.S.or here in Canada?.When you had mentioned the other day about a possible Series 1 re-issue being contemplated, would the colors, poses, packaging, etc be changed to differentiate the re-issues from the original Series 1 figures?.Can you also please tell me if there was or is going to be a carrying case created for this line that may have come with a few exclusive figures?.Sorry for all of the questions, but there's a group of S.L.U.G.collectors,who like myself, appreciate any and all information possible on this line. We're invested in this Jakk's product and would love to continue to purchase these,as long as the line continues. If it's not too expensive to open up an account,I may resort to that,in order to insure that I can find any subsequent S.L.U.G Zombies series that Jakk's produces.Thank you once again,Jeff.if I hear back from her,I'll post her reply.Jeff

Hi Jeff!

Glad to meet another addict... uh... I mean collector!

The name of the zombie on the packaging is Rotting Rau I think. He's in series 5 or 6 (not sure).

Here's Christmas... but I had to use scans from the back of a package and the graphics aren't as good as the ones from the poster. Here ya go.

I've paid too much money for series 1, but I would gladly pay retail if they are re-released. I just hope they complete the line. I would love to see the monsters and aliens as well. One can only dream...

If there actually is talk within the company of re-releasing series 1 then I would think that there would be no question that they will finish out series 5 and 6... Maybe Im crazy but from a companies perspective how could they possibly see it being lucratve to re-release a series but not viable to produce new figures. I mean if the line is dead in their eyes they wouldn't bother re-issuing series 1. I dont see them re-issuing series 1 (or even talking about it) if they are not planning on releasing series 5 and 6. I know they keep moving back the drop date, which is super frustrating but they will be out in time.

George (over at October Toys), who appears to be somewhat of an industry insider recently stated (on the October Toys forum):

The next [SLUG Zombies series] we are waiting on is 5 if it will be released. I've seen it, and I know they have been made, just don't know how far the production has gone and if it will be making it out there.

People who have emailed Jakks have all received consistent promises of a spring release of series 5. Spring goes out to June. If we get into June and don't see them online or in stores then I think we may have been BSed all along. I really don't know why a company would do that, but some on this forum have reported that situations like this have occurred in the past. Many report that toy lines are announced and then cancelled without much notice.

Having worked in corporate situations for many years. I've seen projects cancelled simply because the firm lost money in some other endeavor and had to tighten its belt. I suppose it could be that the SLUGs are cancelled for reasons unconnected with the line itself. But I've never seen a company consistently promise products/services they know they will never deliver and remain healthy. Eventually customers wise up.

The molds for series 1 are already complete, so the cost of re-releasing that series would just be the materials for the figures and packaging. Series 6 might not even be sculpted yet. Even if Jakks can't get a retail store to stock series 1, I'm sure they could get Entertainment Earth to carry them again. They can't be oblivious to what they sell for on ebay. They know the demand is out there.

I remember emailing them about series 1 shortly after series 3 came out. At that time they told me there were no plans to re-release series 1. Of course a a lot has happened since then. At the time series 1 was probably averaging about 20.00 for a 3 pack and not the ridiculous prices they go for now. But I don't know if we can really say there's that high a demand. Yeah there's a demand but for how many people? Maybe a couple of hundred? That's not a big enough crowd to justify production costs. If there was such a huge demand, the glut of series 2,3, and 4 wouldn't have made it to bargain bins and choking up ebay. And as Iwao stated, they already have the molds for series 1 which is one of the most expensive sectors of production. It's still a risk on their part pump more money in.

I think this toy line was kinda like an experiment in marketing. There really was no advertising for it except word of mouth. There was some nice buzz about it at last years toy fare, tons of blogs geeked out over them, but there were no t.v. spots during kids programing. And I'm sure kids are the target demographic for toys. That along with the no random packaging on a collectible toy line. It's kind of a hard sell.

I hope they continue the line and re-release series 1, but right now I feel like I should know better.

Well they have to know that by re-releasing them they are not going to get the $100+ for the reissues that the originals often fetch on ebay... And if someone has seen the actual figures from series 5 than those molds are likely complete as well so the cost to issue series 5 would be no greater than the cost to reissue series 1. If they are not going to issue series 5 than I HIGHLY doubt they would bother reissuing series 1 for the simple fact to appease a few hundred customers interested in a line they are dropping anyway. That just doesn't make sense.

They are just trying to make more of a buzz and stir by putting the date back so when they are released everyone will get out there and buy them by the hoards... My wishful thinking atleast

Hi All !.It's Jeff at Kool Stuff Toys in Canada.I hit up another TARGET over the weekend and they are continuing to stock Series 2 figures in 3 packs (I didn't see any coffin boxes at this one either).I asked one of the workers there if he knew if they were getting any more of the different series in (as TARGET is new to us here in Canada and you guys/gals in the U.S.were lucky enough to get up to Series 4).The same answer from this store, was the same as the other store, which was that they just quickly filled the stores with whatever stock they were sent for a quick fill/open,then gradually they'll add to the overall store stock as time goes on.I asked the worker if he could please scan the S.L.U.G.Zombies package and see if it shows this series to be discontinued. He checked with his scanner and said,"No,it doesn't show it being discontinued and there is more of the same ones in the store room".The next time I'm there,I am hoping to see if they have a full, unopened case of them,as I have yet to see one of those anywhere.Worse case secnario,I guess I can get an actual opened shipping box.No word back from JAKK'S as of yet,but I may try recontacting them through email, rather than directly to Alma, who is either on holidays, left the building, doesn't know the answers or is tired of me asking her questions (despite her having said this-"If you have any further questions feel free to contact me"),which if you don't collect these guys, you might be.Like the rest of you,I'm just hoping to have further answers about this line and it's possible future.Thank you all, continue to be a slave to the S.L.U.G. and Happy Rottin Collecting !.Jeff.

Hi joeybones,it's Jeff.Thank you for your reply. What was the name of that store again?.Just kidding.Thank you for the tip.I just did a Google search and it seems like you guys have a pile of them in the U.S.,but none here in Canada.I'm not a huge fan of the blind boxes, because I don't want to end up with a whole bunch of the same figures (as kool as they are).i am just trying to get a complete set for myself and now 2 other friends whom I've shown these to.I'm going to try and contact JAKKS again and see if either Alma is back with us or I hear from someone else.Have a great night all and continue to be a slave to the S.L.U.G. and Happy Rottin Collecting !.Jeff.

Hi All !.It's Jeff at Kool Stuff Toys in Canada.Prior to hearing the news,I had recently inquired about opening up an account with Jakks,in order to be able to carry the S.L.U.G.'s,if the line was continuing.

This was the last message I received from the Jakk's representative here in Canada about opening up an account with Jakks. His replies were in red

Hi,it's Jeff again. Can you please tell me,if there is a set, minimum monthly amount that you need to spend when you open an account? NO.I generally deal in vintage toys and collectors items from the 1950's-upwards,so this is something new to me.i know years ago,Diamond distributing was trying to get me to open up an account and back then, there was a minimum monthly requirement of $500 that you had to spend. We have sold a number of the Jakks Classics WWE figures in the past and I was quite happy with those products,As stated,I am primarily interested in the S.L.U.G.Zombies line (we currently have stock Wave 2 & 4 item #42016 and 42038) and whether that is going to proceed both in the U.S.and here in Canada. In the U.S.Jakks has produced up to series 4 and there has been mention in the Entertainment Earth web site that there are supposed to be potentially up to series 8 in planning.Around here,I have been lucky to find only Series 2 at both TARGET and at clearance at Toys R Us.There are numerous people in the U.S.that collect this line and I have customers that are interested in more of these. So far no one seems to be able to confirm or deny it,if this line is continuing (sorry I can not confirm anything) or not.If it isn't,that's too bad and I wouldn't need to open an account.Thank you again for your assistance,Jeff.

Although I'm disappointed by the news,I guess that I'm not overly surprised by the announcement of Entertainment Earth to cancel carrying the S.L.U.G. Zombie line. The release dates always seemed to be upcoming, then late and although I was hopefull we'd see this line get to at least Series 5 & 6 (to match up the poster),seeing them list up to Series 10,seemed wishful thinking). They seemed to be the only retail outlet with Zombies, that was why I was interested in carrying them here.EE must know something that is only being implied and not confirmed by others in the Jakks organization.I think the biggest downfall of the S.L.U.G.'s is that while they appeal to those of us growing up in the 80's with all of the other little rubber figures made back then,The Trash Pack line by Moose Toys is gaining momentum with children (the biggest buyer),while the S.L.U.G.'s are all but dead in the water. What a shame.Jeff.

Hi All !.It's Jeff at Kool Stuff Toys in Canada.A friend was asking me about the Christmas S.L.U.G.Zombies set and wondered if they also released this in a Coffin 12 pack.I told him that I hadn't seen one yet,so I believe (and please correct me if I'm wrong),that these were only released as 4 separate 3 packs.I like most of you,are still looking for a set of the S.L.U.G.Zombies Series 1 3 packs and Coffin 12 pack in order to complete my set.The only ones that I see still up on eBay are wanting a bit too much for them.Although the line is supposedly ending,I'm glad that I got the chance to purchase two of the S.L.U.G.Zombies posters, which shows characters up to and including Series 5 & 6.If you haven't gotten one yet, check out our friends littlerubberguys eBay Item number:251268404666 Slug Zombies S.L.U.G. large poster 36 x 24.Thank you,Jeff.

Hi All !.It's Jeff at Kool Stuff Toys in Canada.I hope that everyone is doing well. It's been awhile since I've been on here, that I forgot my password. Our TARGET is still stocking the shelves with left overs of Series 2,but i have yet to see anything aside from that and only at TARGET.It hasn't happened yet,but I am still hoping to be able to add one of the shipping boxes to my collection.I had thought about packing in the S.L.U.G's after hearing the news that the line was stopping.I hated not having Series 1,especially after tracking all of the other sets, including the very kool Christmas set down. You may have seen the lot that was up on eBay which contained a Series one has the opened coffin, but all 12 figures are included. Series 2 includes the coffin and the two 3 packs that completes the set of series 2. They are all sealed. Series 3 includes the coffin and the three 3-packs that completes the series 3 and they are all sealed. Series 4 includes the coffin and four  3-packs  that completes the series 4. Not opened but the coffin has damage (see pic for details. The pictures does not include 3-pack with Gangrene Gene, Ferocious Frankie and Johnson but it is included!) Included too are the four 3-packs of the Christmas edition and they are sealed too.I ended up winning this for $100,which I thought was a sweet deal. Now I just need the 4 figures that were exclusive to the 3 packs, which are Mighty Bite Mac,Piece Mail Pete,Officer R.I.P. and Headless Halpert.I'm bidding on 2 of those 3 packs and then onto Series 5,if there is going to be one?.Has it been confirmed?..Have a great night all and continue to be a slave to the S.L.U.G. and Happy Rottin Collecting !.Jeff.

Hi All !.It's Jeff at Kool Stuff Toys in Canada.I hope that despite the heat, that you are at least enjoying a little bit of summer (it's hot here as well).I am nearing the completion of my entire S.L.U.G.Zombies collection. From Series 1,I am now in need of just 3 more figures, which include Headless Halpert,Piece Mail Pete and Officer R.I.P.If anyone in the group happens to have these, please let me know what you'd want for them.I check on eBay everyday, but with their Global Shipping Program and Import charges, getting one 3 pack would cost me almost $25 U.S.shipping and I already have the other 2 from the 3 packs.Stay kool and stay safe.Have a great night all and continue to be a slave to the S.L.U.G. and Happy Rottin Collecting !.Jeff.
