This might be more appropriate in 'Got toys?' but let's see where it goes. I went on an op-shop tour of regional Victoria with my girlfriend today. I was keeping an eye out for MIMP, didn't find any, but at the last shop we visited I came across this badboy:

Apart from a few marks and the name 'SHEEN' written in marker on it, it's in pretty bloody good nick. I'm not really interested in MIMP merch, only figures. So I'm thinking of trading it with you guys if you want it. So, 2 questions: 1. Anyone want it? 2. What are people's opinions on what would constitute a fair trade for this sort of item? (Bearing in mind that I only really want series 1, maybe series 2 (and of course any series 3)).

Jack,

That's called a "Monster Pouch", and it's very rare. I only own 2 of them, but I'm lucky to own those. You should receive a considerable trade to equal such a rare item. I could possibly even see someone trading a Series-3 figure for a Monster Pouch, although that trade might be a bit in your favor.

I'll leave this trade for someone else since I already own 2, but if nobody else wants it then I'd probably trade you for it.

Your Friend,
"Brojo"

Thanks for the info Brojo - I was hoping you'd chime in because I figured you'd be the best authority on the rarity/worth of this item. You might be in luck though because as you can see, you're the only person to post on this thread. Maybe this item is a bit too obscure to raise much interest from the board?

I have one in perfect condition - I got it in a lot of mimp toys which didn't got for a whole lot. I tried checking my ebay feedback to see how much it went for exactly and if it was clearly mentioned or whatever, but it was too long ago so it isn't a detailed feedback thing anymore.

So I didn't think they were worth *that* much. Maybe I just got a bargain. I really doubt a series 3 mimp would be a fair trade. Maybe the bag and some money, but not just the bag.

Also, it's too small for an adult to wear -.- damn toys for kids.

Goddamn it! Has the market become inadvertently flooded with monster pouches?

Damn straight. If I could wear it, I'd be crazy to trade it. I'd be the coolest guy ever if I could strut down the street wearing that thing. [Cue 'Staying Alive']

HEY! I remember that song from when it played non-stop on the radio! I used to think it was about beetlejuice.

I tried finding little clips that matched up with the clips on the mimp bag so I could make an extension for it, no dice. I'd have had to get a second one and destroy it to steal the clips. Not a problem if I could find one that was virtually destroyed already, BUT I CAN'T and I'm SO not ruining a perfectly good collectible item.

It's just as cool as that cthulhu bum-bag thing, only just that much more dorky. It would have gone great with the rest of my 'ultimate nerd' attire. The gameboy shaped watch, the pikachu shoes, the gatchaman dress... with all my nerd gear on I could have been the most gigantic nerd in the entire country. Maybe the world!

(although I would never *really* do that except as a joke, I try to keep my nerdish acessories to 'one a day'... You do believe me, don't you?)

1) I would PROBABLY trade you for the pouch (even though I already own 2), but let's give the other members a little while longer to express either their interest or their lack thereof.

2) Unfortunately, rare and valuable aren't always the same thing. Perhaps the Monster Pouch will turn out to be another example of this. Other examples include low demand for "Howlers" and for the very-rare Hardee's "Dinosaur In My Pocket" figures from 1993.

Don't sweat it Brojo, I'm happy to just hang on to it for a while. The relationship between rarity and value is interesting. I bet if I tried to sell this thing on the eBay it wouldn't arouse much interest. However, if a collector really wanted one, it would be almost impossible to get your hands on. I've put this item on my trade list so if anyone is interested they can contact me.

p.s. My girlfriend was reading over my shoulder before and remarked on how nice you all are. Awww...
