By amazing coincidence, there's currently a discussion about exactly this topic at the "MIMP" Yahoo group!

That group can be found here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MIMP/

I'll gladly reprint for you my recent answers about this subject, but my answers will only make sense if you also join the group in order to view all the photos I refer to.

On 2008October24, within the "MIMP" Yahoo group, I wrote:

1) There are 3 types of Argentine figures by Cromy which are allegedly MIMP: the "normal" MIMP sculpts (from Series-1 & Series-2), the "Cromy Club" figures, and the "Cromy Minis" figures.

2) I used to doubt whether the "normal" S1/S2 Argentine/Cromy figures were real: I thought maybe they were bootlegs, because they lack all the "maker's marks" (manufacturer, copyright, year, etc.) and because they sometimes consist of a "swirled" combination of 2 or more colors (indicating lower production standards). However, I've since found a single photo of some packaging which proves that these figures are real (not Severinfachek's photo of the Cromy Club packaging, but a different photo of the "normal" figures' packaging).

3) I have no evidence whatsoever that the "Cromy Club" or "Cromy Minis" are actually MIMP, or even that they were manufactured or distributed by Cromy, except for the 1 controversial photo described below. However, I would like to point out that the "Cromy Club" figures are exactly the same size and material as MIMP, and that they share some of the exact same colors (especially the transparent colors) as the "normal" Argentine MIMP figures.

4) The photo of the "Cromy Club" packaging was provided by member "Severinfachek". However, I've never been able to get ahold of him. I find it very, very suspicious that his packaging has a Siren in the exact same place as a Siren sticker arbitrarily placed by the previous owner on the cover of one single, individual copy of the "Album de Figuritas" sticker-album.

5a) The seller of Severinfacheck's packaging NEVER said that it was fake. One of many sellers of "Cromy Club" figures once referred to the figures themselves as "bootlegs". The text of that e-mail can be found in the "Files" section of this group. It was I who claimed that Severinfachek's packaging was fake.

5b) However, I'd like to now recant that statement, saying instead that it MIGHT be fake. I've noticed that some Cromy Club figures have much more "flash" (extra, untrimmed plastic around the seams). This is the main reason I suspect that the "real" packaging might actually be a RE-ISSUE of the "Cromy Club" figures with extra flash. In turn, this means that the packaging I've labeled as "fake" might not be fake at all, but might - in fact - be the ORIGINAL packaging.

6) Every "Cromy Club" figure that I know of is decpicted. However, the last 1 or 2 figures might not be Cromy Club at all - they might have just been mixed in with some lots of Cromy Club figures.

7) Every "Cromy Minis" figure that I know of is depicted. I have never seen any others. Strangely, however, they are sequentially numbered beginning at (I think) #13. So what happened to figures #01-#12? I have no idea.

8) Most if not all of the names of the "Cromy Club" and "Cromy Minis" figures are made up. Most of them were made up by me.

8a) The names which are in quotes and which aren't in brackets are the names which have been told to me by Argentine sellers ("Dryad", "Ogre", and "Merrow"), or which are very obvious ("Slimer").

8b) The names which are in brackets and which are capitalized are either those which are fairly obvious to me ("Minotaur", possibly "Jimmy Squarefoot", "Sciapod", possibly "Slaughterford", etc.) or those which have been named by Scott Hutchins as being fairly obvious ("Naga" and "Empusa").

8c) The names which are in brackets AND which aren't capitalized are names I made up myself, based upon the shape of the sculpt. That's why they're in brackets: because they aren't official names.

8d) I have NEVER seen ANY names of ANY "Cromy Club" OR "Cromy Minis" figures anywhere (besides those 3 names mentioned to me by sellers: not on any packaging, nor in any sticker-album, nor anywhere on the internet, nor anywhere else.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU STILL HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I'LL GLADLY TRY TO ANSWER THEM.

Does anyone know who Yahoo member "Severinfachek" is? Or how I can get ahold of him?

Ha ha ha

I wondered, after I'd posted my reply, whether you were "Stefano".

It's difficult for me to keep track of who's who when most of us are only using nicknames, especially when people use different nicknames on different sites.

Perhaps someone else here at LRG will be able to help answer these Cromy mysteries (hint, hint).

It would also be very helpful if someone could please tell me how to get ahold of Yahoo member "Severinfachek".

I have the e-mail addresses of all the major eBay sellers of Argentine MIMP items. If you e-mail me at brojo2005@hotmail.com then I'll gladly give you all my Argentine e-mail addresses. Perhaps one of those Argentine MIMPers might be able to help us solve these Cromy mysteries.

Oh...Ok thanks, anyway, have you try to add this "Severinfachek" in Yahoo Messenger? I think yes...If you want add me in this messenger, add the nickname: z_o_m_b_j_e ;)

Yes, I've tried adding "Severinfachek" to my Yahoo Messenger; no luck.
I've also tried sending e-mails, but I've never received a reply.

I just sent a Yahoo Messenger "Add" request to "z_o_m_b_i_e".

No...you have wrote...the correctly nickname is: z_o_m_b_j_e (with the J) ;)
