I've seen a few reviews here and there that mention concerns that new figures like Battle Pods, Squinkies, and Trashies are not going to stand the test of time due to their squishy material.

I'm not sure what that material is. I assume a very soft rubber or EXTREMELY squishy PVC. But, I'm not sure. I know that RUBBER hardens seriously over time and shrinks which would basically destroy these things, if they are made out of rubber. But, I also assume they are chemically treated in a modern way that older rubber figures were not in the past.

What do you guys think?

I can't tell you what happens as time passes, but I can tell you what happens when one goes through the dryer!

The original dude is on the far right, the grey dino.

Warning: Large image! I left it un-modified because it's such a small figure and I'm taking pictures via iPhone.

For those that either can't see it or can't load the picture, his appendages have shrunk into his body and his face went extremely derpy. (Though I'm not sure if his eyebrows melted or if he just always looked that way). He's also considerably more firm compared to ALL other squinkies, but still actually squishy considering.
