so, they're either kidnapped from the factory by shady workers and sold to retailers who put them on ebay (or the kidnappers are the sellers maybe) or they could be factory seconds that didn't pass the qc prior to having the chip set put into the foot of the figure. hmmm... i was almost regretting not buying one of the sets originally because i really liked most of the sculpts. but now i'm glad i held off. not only didn't you get the figs they pictured but you got what are basically incomplete figures. i hope you're happy with your purchase though. after all it is your money and you seem to have a quite extensive collection of complete figs as it is. they could make for interesting conversation pieces like the muscle factory error figs.

Hey Guys!

yeah, ultimately I'm okay with the outcome of the auction as I went in knowing the figures were at best factory seconds, and really got them for custom fodder, so at that price and double the quantity to boot made me fairly pleased.

As for the chips, as far as I know they are similar to the old Star Wars Commtech, Playmates Simpsons, Jakks Titan Tron or MOTU 200X. There's a talking base that is activated by figures. Don't have one so I don't know if it's RFID chips that work on proximity or an actual plug in chip...

EDIT: Here's a pic of the Altar of Life, which reads the chips. From the photo I'd guess it's RFID as it doesn't seem to have a visible plug just a smooth surface for the figure, though you can't see under his feet...

I grabbed some, too, and I got exactly what was in the pic:

Now, the real question is, can anybody supply the on-card point costs of the original figures for us? Ha.

I can supply you with 2 of them!

The Forest Tribe figure in the 1st position, 2nd row of your picture is:

Bu Bamboo l'urlante Solitario (Bu Bamboo, The Solitary Screamer) Power 31, Agility 27

The Earth Tribe figure in the last position, 3rd row of your picture is:

L'Instancabile Demolitore (The Tireless Demolisher) Power 16, Agility 27

I have some more on the way, and will try to fill in the rest for you then!

Some fusion Info:

Tree guy with a square head is L'Artefatto

Four-armed water guy is Likasu - Lo Stritolatore

Snake guy is Magmaserp

Stone guy is Marmacciaio - Il Guardiano Roccioso

The lava guy with the fangs is Marton.

Also, it appears that there isn't a "chip" in the figures, but they all have that hole in the foot. Look at Magmion here.

http://cgi.ebay.it/M...id=p4634.c0.m14

Or at Uncino Lavico here:

http://cgi.ebay.it/U...id=p4634.c0.m14

Thankfully, Ihave Uncino and Orrore Profondo coming from a seller, and I KNOW that they will be legit. if they have holes in feet, then there we go! The altar looks like it has a button/peg, actually. Look here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/...1QQcmdZViewItem

Oh, and I noticed "Agility" appearing on cards back in the Cartoon series. What does it mean?

I noticed upon returning from my vacation a few weeks back that a group of Hong Kong sellers are still posting these "factory runoff" figures, but now with their respective cards. Has anyone ordered any of these since the inclusion of the cards? Are the cards clearly bootlegs, or are they legit? Also how does letting these sellers continue to sell these "chip-less" figures affect the future of Gormiti collecting. I'm curious to know if you guys think we should just turn a blind eye to these auctions if they are illegitimate, report them, or leave them be since this could be borderline legit? Is this a black and white issue or is it grey? I think if the cards are bogus, then this is a problem. Kids might waste good money buying bogus figures from Hong Kong taking away from the sales figures of Playmates, Flair, etc. Thereby creating lower sales figures for the parent companies, and possibly damaging decisions on if the line should continue, or where it should head next.

The figures are legit (or at least were when I got mine) albeit not all of them had the chips installed.

I don't know about the cards in the latest batches, however I wouldn't be surprised if these were legit too, as it seems clear that the figures as we get them at retail are packed at source.

So far as legality is concerned, I would imagine it falls within that grey area. I mean, good luck getting Western copyrights enforced in China :) To be honest, I think any company making toys in that part of the world basically accepts that stuff like this is going to happen.

Dan I do not remember buying them but I received a set of figures that appear absolutely legit to me. If they are bootleg I cannot tell the difference and I received what was listed in my auction which included the newest release "Eclipse" though I had to have bought them quite a while ago as I have not bought anything for myself off of eBay in quite some time. I did not receive any Lords but I did get a full set of all of the regular figures. I would be happy to send you some pictures if you would like em Dan.

Best,

Latest info on these Hong Kong factory escapes is interesting.

In the latest lots (example here) have been appearing colour-changing Volcano figures from the new Eclissi Suprema series.

Posted Image

Posted Image

The really interesting part? These figures have not had a commercial release.

From what my Italian Gormiti source tells me, this was a planned limited edition set for the Italian market that has now apparently been cancelled. So these are basically test samples/prototypes that have never made it to full production.

There are obviously going to be limited quantities of these around (although I do notice they have quite a few auctions on the go right now) so this is a heads up for anyone who is interested in acquiring something a little rare and different.

Im confused about the information about Eclissi Suprema on Preziosi website but if these guys are test figures it would be great to get some.

i wonder how many of these "protos" they actually have. didn't someone buy a listing a while ago, and it showed up completely different than pictured? it'd be a huge kick in the balls if someone were to bid majorly high on these only to get stuck with plain old run of the mill gormiti rather than these.

There is unquestionably an element of risk to it, but how else are you going to get these figures? :D

I bought two sets of different figures from them some time ago; at first they only sent one set, but after I told them about the error they did send a second set (and by express delivery) albeit with a slightly different assortment. Overall I was satisfied with the trade, and they did go out of their way to rectify their initial mistake by ponying up for the express shipping.

They are friendly enough and their feedback received is okay. Definitely a bit of a fly-by-night operation... but aren't deals like this one of the things that makes collecting toys fun? ;) ;)

i wish all who endeavor to acquire these figures the best of luck. i just like to make sure my brothers and sisters are well protected if i can.

in a way, i can see taking the risk. a few of the sculpts are pretty cool looking. plus, having something like this is like buying the super-rares direct from the factory before they had a chance to end up in packaging and causing years and years of research by nerds seeking truth and answers to the mysteries.

I have a set coming so I will let you know as soon as I'm able. As I said a while ago, I would tend towards the idea that they're legit. It seems pretty clear that the figures are packed at source, so the real cards should be in close proximity.

I'm not a Gormiti freak, but I've been following this thread. I just want to make sure I'm understanding.

In each of the auctions this seller has listed, are 4 "rare"/currently unproduced figures? And the figures are coming from the UK, but they were made in China/Japan?

Noo, they're coming from Hong Kong, an autonomous region of China. The auctions are in English and they speak English there because it was a British colony until very recently... maybe that is the source of the confusion :(

I'm not confused about Hong Kong. :( I didn't re-check the eBay auction, I thought someone had said the had a European "source."

Ok, fine they're coming from Hong Kong - but you still didn't answer my question, "In each of the auctions this seller has listed, are 4 "rare"/currently unproduced figures?"
