I'm not confused about Hong Kong. :( I didn't re-check the eBay auction, I thought someone had said the had a European "source."

Oh, okay. I was just referring to the source of my information on the figures.

Ok, fine they're coming from Hong Kong - but you still didn't answer my question, "In each of the auctions this seller has listed, are 4 "rare"/currently unproduced figures?"

That is correct, at this moment in time at least. The four colour-changing figures are not released. What I was told is that they were a sample production run that has not gone into full production. Whether they will surface at a later date, I don't know.

no, the auctions just are listed as if they are normal gormiti. in the listing he does note that the 4 figures change color but doesn't hint that they are special. I've purchased a couple lots from this seller and all of the figures have come out legit.

I guess my hesitance to be over excited stems from the fact that this type of thing also happens with modern SW figures. The "next wave" pops-up on eBay and some people clamor for it, and then it hits retail location a few weeks/months later. I guess time will tell - but good luck to everyone! I hope they turn out to be rare. :(

I stumped up the extra for express shipping, so mine arrived today, super-quick. Seller very nicely included 4 extra Gormiti figures plus - bizarrely - a purple #228 :woot:

No chips in any of the figures, but that doesn't bother me. The cards are indistinguishable from the ones I got in sealed packets, so no doubt they're genuine. The 4 translucent figures are sweet, but I can't say the colour-changing aspect works very well on these at all. But that's not an issue for me. Overall I was quite satisfied with what I got.

FYI for any US guys interested, there is an eBay seller with all four of them, but buying them directly from the HK or whatever seller does work out to be cheaper.

LOL

Those are pretty good paint jobs though, and the shade of gold appears to be an on the money accurate match for actual legit gold Gormiti figures... I wonder if they've used the "official" process on them?

Wow, that is weird. Could someone post a picture of an actual Gold Gormiti figure?

IF this guy is getting "extra run" figures, then it isn't crazy to think they might be using the same Gold painting process.

From what my Italian Gormiti source tells me, this was a planned limited edition set for the Italian market that has now apparently been cancelled. So these are basically test samples/prototypes that have never made it to full production.

I finally saw a lot that just had 8 color change figures in it with the cards, so I ordered one set.

Strontium Dog did your Italian source have anything in print about these color change guys being planned as an exclusive. It does seem odd to me that these figures would just pop up out of nowhere with no frame of reference. I mean, all the other figures except the new silver and gold figures are all cast and painted in the same color schemes as figures released on the market. So it would be kinda pointless for this handful of figures to be cast in color change plastic, unless they had been planned to be released this way.

I got some more Hong Kong Gormiti... well, it said Hong Kong, but they shipped from Singapore.

They were all slightly bashed or otherwise imperfect, which leads me to believe they were factory rejects.

I bought them mostly for the gold figures, but probably more interesting are the unfinished figures:

Not to resurrect a dead thread, but in your experiences these are legitimate, factory escapees?

Found this guy on Ebay, as my kid and I have started collecting these things recently. I don't want to get any that could have problems or anything like that. I keep reading jokes about lead paint, unsure if that is actually true or not. Thanks for any help!

I've not bought from that seller, but from other sellers the product has seemed legit, albeit the figures are sometimes a little scuffed, and occasionally in colours that weren't produced, leading one to conclude that they are being knocked up unofficially in the official factories.

With that said, I'd be wary about buying from auctions like that which promises to supply you with 10 random Gormiti. Not least because you have no idea what you are getting, and you could quite likely get 10 random Gormiti from someone here for that price (hint hint).

I'm not looking to buy at the moment, I was just cruising ebay to try and get a feel for what the actual cost of these things are. So far, we've been pretty lucky and been getting them for a buck a figure. My daughter, for some odd reason, really likes the tree guys. And I'm trying to collect the water tribe. So when I'm looking next I know who to hit up!

I love this board.
