CLEARLY I'm too liberal with my up-votes...

Clearly I was doling out a few too many up-votes... Because the site eventually told me that I couldn't up-vote anymore and that I had reached my daily limit lol! I was just excited that we were all pitching in with each other's pursuits outside of LRG, but I'll admit that in general I'm pretty generous w/ my up votes. I mean hell - if I start a thread and I think your contributing something or saying something even mildly funny you usually get one from me. I'm easy like that.
The funny thing was today - I up voted ONCE and then something else and once again it told me I had reached my daily limit? Which is weird because I only did it once!
Maybe yesterday carried over into today or something...

That's weird. I upvote quite a few posts and haven't had this happen.

Your "daily limit" is calculated based on a rolling total of your votes from the last 24 hours, not the last actual day (which, since we're a global board, is different for all of us).
So if you hit your maximum at 11.59pm, it doesn't mean you get a full set of fresh votes at 00:00am - you get a fresh vote 24 hours after each vote you've made.

I wonder why there is a cap? Seems like an odd thing to limit.

To prevent abuse of the system. With unlimited rep power, a person could singlehandedly inflate or destroy someone's rep score. It would render the whole thing meaningless.

Mwu-HA-HA-HA!
(Clasps hands in a similarly Mr Burns fashion...)
But seriously, I guess that makes sense. I always likened the upvotes to "likes" on feedback. Except I guess the don't have a down vote on FB per say... Just the ability to un-like something.
Thanks for the heads up Strontium!

I always just found them to be a lark. But I guess some people take them more seriously. Thanks for the info!

Ha i still remember questioning the so-called "official price guide" a new member was putting out for a brand new line of easily available mini figures and he actually took the time to register several new accounts all by himself for the purpose of seeking out every post i made in any random thread just to downvote me then switch accounts and downvote me then switch accounts and downvote me again. It was an impressive feat though somewhat pointless in my opinion.

I almost neg'd you, just for shits and giggles.
I too, have hit my limit before. It was on one of the days where I hadn't logged on in awhile, so I had a lot of stuff to catch up on. I typically upvote for one of several reasons: Too lazy to respond, I agree with the post and feel nothing more needs to be said, I don't feel like I have anything to add to the conversation, or because I just felt like it needed one.

Some people are so petty. "Question me, will you? DOWNVOTES FOR EVERYTHING!!!"

Wow -
that's very zealous of him... geez. For every times someone questioned someone else on this board... you would think folks would have a slightly thicker skin than all that.
Geez...
