[Universal Ruler Supreme]

Well, it's weird how things work out. I've fallen to the Blue Side of the force. Of course it started last year when I bought my PS3. Blue Rays became tempting since I could now play them, but it was pointless since my TV at the time was standard. Then like a month or so ago, my Standard TV's Vertical Hold went out. And You can't manual fix the most recent models like you could the vintage ones. So I had to figure out what to do about a TV. Cause as you know, we can't live without TVs.
So I broke my budget and splurged on some serious spending of this magnitude and bought me a 55" Samsung HDTV.
Now I have the capability to buy and watch Blue Ray. It's really weird, and I can't figure out what happened. But The first 2 BD I bought were simple things, some of my favorite movies, the 90's Street Fighter flick, and The Fifth Element. It was so SICK! The image quality blew me away! I couldn't believe how much smoother and clearer the pictures were even compared to DVD. And with the 'Auto Motion Plus' feature on my Samsung, it makes it look like your the guy filming the movie.
Next thing I know, I'm shopping for more Blue Ray movies. Not new stuff, but the older stuff I know I loved from the 80's and 90's. It's a whole new experience, like seeing the movie for the first time all over again. You just know what's gonna happen next.
So I bought a couple more. First The Running Man, which was enjoyable. Then today I picked up a copy of Big Trouble in Little China! CRAP!! That movie was even more fantastic than I remember it being! And it looked like it was filmed Yesterday!
Now I just noticed something odd today as well. I used to ignore the BD sections at the store and just scan through the DVDs, but for the past week, I have been ignoring the DVD selections and skipping straight to the BD shelves looking for new releases or great sales on some classics I know I love.
I know I sound like I'm a spokesperson for Blue Ray or something, but I am a newly converted enthusiast, and can't help myself. I can't wait till Star Wars comes out this year! I want the visual experience of feeling like I'm the camera man for those movies.
The things you miss if your watching a Video tape, or lower quality DVD are mind boggling. For instance, there are items that pop up like boxes or signs that you can actually read what they say, or ascertain what they are. And you pay so much more attention to the film extras littering the background of a scene. It's just crazy.

So if anyone is just getting into BD, I suggest looking for sales for great classic action films as opposed to newer films. There are very few movies I own multiple formats of, so I'm not ashamed of keeping my old hardware around. I still have my VHS set up, cause not every film I like has been transitioned to DVD or BlueRay, and since DVD is still the most widely used for my main entertainment focus, being Animations, I'm still actively buying films and series of this genre on DVD.

To be honest, the Blue Ray prices are still a big turn off to me. $35 bucks or even $20 is alot to stomach on movie purchases. So all of the Blues I've bought recently have been between $15 and $5 bucks each. With savvy shopping skills there is no reason you can't find great movies, new or old, on Blue Ray at these prices.
