Got this set while hunting down the larger True Legends sets at Toys R Us. This is the Mythical Warriors figure playset. Pretty neat! I do love plastic figure playsets, particularly the more off-the-wall ones dedicated to things other than army men or utility workers and such. Ahhhh...good ol' sword 'n' sorcery!
Like many other the True Heroes sets, we get the classic barrel of figures and accessories. For every set of Chap Mei figures, we seem to get a smaller playset to go with it. Not bad. Can we expect ninjas and Greek heroes eventually? Hmmmm...time will tell.
We get seven types of figure sculpts and a bunch of neat little place setting elements. First the figures...I'm a tad miffed they made 'em all in one color. All green? Boring!!! They could have made at least two colors. Maybe brownish, aside from green. Eh. Honestly, they remind me of the old Hero Quest figures. God, how I miss the Fimir!
Here we have an orc and an elf. Now, orcs and elves were the only types made in the larger articulated toys. They look pretty much like mini versions of said characters...'nuff said.
Here are two female characters...or males in convincing drag. Elves or humans? You be the judge. Clearly one is some type of warrior, and the other is a sorceress or queen...maybe both. Either way, the sculptor clearly has a thing for bare midriffs...as do I.
Here's the other three sculpts. I wanna say one is a dwarf, be he's kinda big. I love it anyway...probably my favorite sculpt. There's a presumably human barbarian warrior as well. Oh, and another female character with a phallic weapon. I assume some type of witch...she has skulls on her belt, a nasty look on her face, and a dramatically draped hood...all signs of an evil person! I was worried the orc was the only "bad guy" in the set!
You also get a large dragon which stands out like a sore thumb among the more Earthen tones of this set. I've seen this sculpt scaled up and down on may occasions. I have larger and smaller toy versions of this dragon. You also get four broken wall set pieces and an odd, singular tombstone...at least I think it's a tombstone.
Also included: two columns with big shields on 'em and a bridge with sides...minimal assembly required. Neat stuff!
Lastly? An altar thingie composed of a brick base, and two big canopy spires...assembly required. You also get two trees, two rocks, and oddly enough...four tiny candles. Huh? I dunno. Seems odd to add such tiny incidental things, but whatever. Again, they make me think of Hero Quest.
AT any rate, aside from the single color scheme for the figures, not a bad set...really cool of you dig mini playsets or sword 'n' sorcery stuff.
