And I screwed up the numbers in the post. 21-1. It's been that kind of night. Thanks to whichever mod fixed it for me.

Everyone I was watching with got silent when the 3 hit.  We thought it was a mistake or he kicked out.   Then it got silent in the Superdome.  It took literally all of us around 5 or so minutes to get over what we had just seen.  I'm 32 years old and that's the first time I have felt a true actual emotion in a wrestling match since Macho Man Hit the Ultimate Warrior with the sceptor to cost him the title.  That moment is over 20 years ago.  Now, Lesnar hitting that third F5 and Taker still laying there........ Man I'm still in shock

Me too man. I knew the Undertaker would have to retire soon, but I had no idea that Lesnar would break the streak. Most shocking moment I have witnessed in WWE history.

Honestly, Taker should have retired a few years back. The past few 'Mania matches from him, have been awful. I'm sorry, but wandering around for 25 minutes, and kicking out of each other's finishers for 5 minutes, does not make a god match.

I enjoyed most of them, but this last one was definitely bad. His body is done. But as the last of my childhood favorites, I'll still be sad to see him go.

I mean, out of those 20+ matches, there were only about five of them that were "good matches".

Don't forget his matches with Big Bossman, getting chloroformed by Giant Gonzalez, the stinker with aging Snuka, a dried up Ric Flair at WM 17, the Bis show/A-Train handicap match fiasco...

It was beyond time, for him. He can't go anymore, and frankly, nobody wants to see him get hurt.

I'm not even arguing with you that it is time for him to retire. But I meant that I enjoyed his recent matches with HBK, HHH and Punk. I even enjoyed the match with Flair, despite the lack of actual wrestling.

And no one could have a good match with Giant Gonzalez. He made Khali look like Kurt Angle.

Man, that Punk match was horrible. Taker was beyond worn out/ready to retire, and Punk was burnt out and a step behind... And it showed.

That Ric Flair Match(RIC FLAIR!!!) Match he had sucked too.  I hate to say he has been living off a rep but it did piss me off(and Probably his opponent CM Punk) that he got all the credit for that match as if he has always been a 5 stars wrestler.  CM Punk Literally did all the work and got none of the credit from the people on TV.  Even in the Shawn Michaels matches he was dragging that's why the last two HHH matches were just brawls where he didn't have to do much but take chairshots and the like.

I've thought his last few matches were good. Sure Punk carried the load and the HHH matches were just brawls with a lot of selling but I liked them. This match was pretty crappy but if that's all he can do now then he made the right choice to end it.

The loss was certainly shocking. As a fan, on one level, I'm excited that they surprised me. On the other hand, I can't help but feel like they wasted the end of Taker's streak on someone who didn't need the rub at all. I'd much rather have seen him lose it to Bray Wyatt, someone who could continue on the legacy and spirit of Undertaker, someone who would be a solid investment for the future. Brock is Brock, he's already a special attraction on his own.

I mean, I feel like "handing off his legacy" would have made it both A. Less HIS legacy, and B. Diminished the unique nature of the legacy.
There isn't ever going to be a streak like that again, and there is no guarantee that whomever handed the legacy would stick around long enough to do it justice.
Undertaker was an old school guy, who wanted to go out on his shield, as per tradition. Mark Calloway chose Brock to be the guy, and while we'll never know the particulars of their arrangement (or what went behind the decision), we CAN believe that Taker knows the business better than us, and that he has his reasons.

Yeah, I'll be honest.  I'm glad it wasn't something like Warrior beating Hogan - you know, setting up somebody new as the face of the company, only to take a gamble in case he fizzles.  It's weird that it was Brock Lesnar, but this way it was REALLY unexpected, and it's setting up Lesnar to be a big bad heel for next year.

You know what kills me about this? Daniel Bryan finally gets his day, on "the grandest stage of them all", and all people talk about, is a 50 year old man doing the job.

The guy that both contingents of wrestling fans can agree on, wins the big one... The guy that was never supposed to make it... And fans want to focus on some imagined slight, not the main event triumph of Daniel Bryan.

Bryan deserves props, no doubt. Slight or not, I'll miss seeing Taker just like I'll miss seeing when characters I like get killed/leave other TV shows.

Come on, this is wrestling.  Taker will be showing up for special guest appearances when he's 70.

I'd put money on it being some kind of heart failure, likely involving an enlarged heart.

Meanwhile, Jake Roberts is still alive and kickin'.

No, that is not a complaint.

With Macho and Warrior gone, who is left to cut awesome, incoherent promos?

I would need some serious hallucinogens to cut that kind of promo.
